THE HUNT FOR SEASONAL WORKERS CROSSES BORDERS
Introduction
After reading the case study analysis in this week’s assignment reading, there are three questions to be answered in this paper, and the information to follow is an answer to those questions.
Review/Analysis of the case
Question #1
If the companies described in this case cannot fill all vacant seasonal jobs with workers under H-2B visas, what other options are available for filling the jobs. I would start with adjusting the pay rate for the jobs in question, raise the amount per hour paid, and the potential employee pool will grow. Make a benefit package available for the part time employees; this would be an attraction for job seekers that would not normally consider this type of temporary employment. Possibly consider making some of the positions a full time position in order to entice more potential employees.
Question 2
Personally I would recommend raising the rate of pay for the open positions, it would cost the company extra money to pay the higher rates, but the alternative is even worse, the loss of business would be enormous and it could potentially cause the downfall of the company. They could even combine the higher rate of pay with a benefit package to bring in employees; I think overall the cost of these options would surely be counterbalanced by the possible loss of business. In the end, everything is based on the dollar, if they are faced with losing money; the companies involved are going to do what is necessary, to not lose any money, that, as they say, is the bottom dollar.

Question 3
An additional recruiting strategy I would recommend is, I would go to economically depressed areas around the country, and target those areas for recruiting, start by advertising heavily in the newspapers as well as magazines, and offer a employment
