To Kill A Mockingbird

In “To Kill a Mockingbird” by harper lee clearly says that killing a mockingbird is a sin because it does not commit crimes,besides making its beautiful music. therefore there are a few characters in the story that could be considered to be mockingbirds.

Tom robinson could be considered to be the most obvious mockingbird in the book. furthermore in chapter 17-19 in the court session while tate the sheriff, and mr ewell, and Tom Robinson made their testimonies it was clear that Tom was innocent. Throughout the trial Ewells and Tate’s testimonies did not make sense and also did not match with each other.
They said Ms. Ewell had bruises all around her neck even though Tom only has one good arm and he can not use the other arm. Furthermore throughout the chapters the evidence pointing out that Tom is innocent is seen more clearly , but yet he is still convicted guilty. Everyone agrees that the only reason he is convicted guilty is because of just one factor, which is his race . He was being judged unfairly because he was a colored man. The evidence did not match up , which should have made it obvious that he was innocent. The jury did not give tom his freedom because they let their racism if colored people get in between their trial, because they were not going to let a colored man win a trial. Tom Robinson was the most obvious mockingbird in the book, which was unfairly judged even though he was innocent because of the racism the people had against colored people. Boo radley could also be considered to be a mockingbird because he is innocent in To Kill a Mockingbird because he is a good man instead of being a cruel man,meanwhile by what people in town said about him seem to be a person he was not. In chapter 1 when it says “ when people’s azaleas froze in a cold snap, it was because he had breathed on them. any stealthy small crimes committed in maycomb were his work. once the town was terrorized by a series of morbid nocturnal events: people’s chickens and household pets were found mutilated; although the culprit was crazy Addie, who eventually drowned himself in bakers eddy , people still looked at the radley place, unwilling to discard their initial suspicions” (Lee 9) Arthur Boo Radley who simply made mistake and hung out with the wrong people when he was younger made him get punished by his father , not being seen by anyone for many years. even though people don't have any proof of him doing anything wrong they still choose to blame crimes on him. they make people see him as someone he is not. they portray him as a cruel evil man but in reality he is a caring and kind as shown in the book later he even risk his life to save childrens lives . Arthur is just an innocent mockingbird who is portrayed by someone has not by the peoples wild imaginations.

Finally, the last person that is considered a mockingbird would be jem finch. for instance in chapter 22 when jem says “ ...i always thought maycomb folks were the best folks in the world, least thats what they seemed like ( Lee 215) This was his response after getting home from the trial , which had a great impact on him. The reasons Jem can be considered a mockingbird is that he was innocent in the way he viewed the world as a safe place and the people as nice people. After witnessing in the trial he saw how unfair and selfish maycomb folks really were, even though they knew that tom was innocent man. Jem was nothing more than a innocent little boy that was getting affected by all the negatively actions around him.

In the book To Kill A Mockingbird by harper lee , the theme of the books was about mockingbirds. That it is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they are innocent and don't commit crimes. There are characters throughout the book that could be considered to be mockingbirds ,such as Tom Robinson , Arthur Boo Radley, And Jem Finch,who didn't do anything wrong but were affected negatively by the events that occurred.
