It’s always a funny thing when you look at how a simple hobby can become a main part of your life. Because when you think about it, this inspiration for the hobby starts up almost randomly and continues to be built on till it becomes part of you. For me music was my hobby and is now my passion. According to the book The Science of Music by Robin Maconie, music exists for the purpose of the moment. Music is emotion and thought embodied onto sheet music or recordings. That’s what music really is when you stop and think about it. It’s just someone’s moment frozen in time for us to listen to whenever we please. It’s really a beautiful thing to have a piece of you live on in the form of music even if it doesn’t become famous or a classic. Prior to high school, I had no interest in music. The only way I become the musician I am today was because I met three people throughout my high school career that led me to become a musician. One of the first people that led me to become the musician is my friend Robert, his friends called him Bobby. At the time, I knew nothing of music. All the music you would attach the label of classic to, I knew nothing of. It’s possible the thought of how I ended up being asked to join the band came to your mind and the answer to that is he needed anybody. Bobby wanted anybody to take the place of bass player or at least so I think. When you add up the facts that he asked somebody he barely knew and on top of that had knowledge of their lack of skill, it all equals up to the fact he was a little desperate. He could have asked some of the other players in the classroom we met in, and I’m sure he did, but he asked me. Thinking back on it thought, there is a bit of randomness from my end since I agreed to be in his band. To this day I don’t exactly know why I agreed. I could speculate on why, it’s possible I just wanted the trill of something new. Another possible reason is just wanted to belong to a group since I only knew 1 other person at the

Music is a wonderful thing. There are many different genres and types of music out there. Music helps people with different things. It can help them through the day. It could also help them through a struggle they are going through. Music can get you motivated to start the day. Music can get the blood flowing in the morning. I like all music, except for country music. There is something about country music that is annoying to me. I don't know what it is, I just really despise country music. Music also has a lot of history. According to some people the earliest forms of music would have been simple drum instruments. They were easy to make. Since there was no written music they had to memorize beats or make new ones. Then the Greek mathematician…

Everyone from this time period wanted to be a part of this cultural movement. Anyone from any walk of life could be in a garage band because they were quite easy to come across. Talent was not important to the other members. Talent was not the main reason to be in the band, it was mostly to have fun and to have a good time. For once these teens had a chance to feel successful and proud of something. Teens of this time created garage bands and folk bands. Most folk songs were clear harmonious singing and an instrument that created a high pitched metallic sound such as a tambourine or a 12-string guitar. Eventually, the artists began to evolve and branch out. Most songwriters were now singing their own songs “the singer-songwriter movement continued the mix of folk and rock elements, but the British invasion flavor was dropped, leaving a more purely American product” (Morrison). Soon after, sex became continuously more prominent. To sum it all up “sex is the main ingredient in rock music” (Egendorf). Sex played a large role in the…

When I first began my career in high school, I always wanted to make it into the elite band. I was never the best at my instrument, or outstanding enough to be noticed. I was a bare minimalist when it came to music; something I look back and laugh at about myself. Most of my peers had gotten into Wind Ensemble…

As a little girl I wanted to be just like Hannah Montana. As I got older, I wanted to be like Rachel Berry, a small town girl living out a big town dream. I wanted to be looked up to because of my musical talent. Walking into Mrs. Kaiser's 7th hour, 8th grade band, I didn't know that music would have such an impact in my life. Music has become the spark of my intellectual curiosity. There are millions of combinations of key signatures, chords, melodies and rhythm in the world of music just waiting to become attached to a sheet of staff lines and spaces. Ever since my first experience with music in the fourth grade, my mind began to explore all these combinations of problems. Music helped me with math, english and gave me a place to escape when I was put into undesirable situations. In Middle…

Immediately wanting to join the band, I knew the only obstacle in my way would be convincing my parents. After all, neither one of them is musical in any way. At dinner that night, it was obvious that they were skeptical and not too keen on the idea of hearing the banging of a drum set in their home, but they ultimately gave me the chance to pursue this new-found passion. At that time, none of us could have imagined the impact that this decision would have on my life moving forward.…

Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.…

I had always loved music. My parents once told me I sang before I spoke, I played piano before I could ride a bike. I listened to everything from mariachi music to soft jazz. That was why I had always loved to play and related to my old piano teacher, Rachel, who felt the same as I did.…
