Ronald Regan begins his first term of presidency in 1981, Regan who took charge of the white house was facing a country with a deteriorating economy. Regan had a clear plan in mind in reconstructing past policies in order to improve the current state of the country by executing “Reaganomics”. Reaganomics is an economic policy that reduces taxes on the upper-income brackets that would boost the investment and economic growth. Under this policy, it has not only controlled the inflation but has brought in a greater number of investors which certainly created more jobs for the people hence a higher employment rate in the country. Although, policies in the Great Society spending has cut down, however, policies such as Social Security and Medicare…
Reagan goes on to ensure the families that the astronauts were brave and courageous, therefore their mission was not in vain and that the missions will continue. By addressing the youth in his speech, he hopes to encourage them because ultimately they would be the next generation of workers. His tone is effective to convince the nation that it is necessary to continue with the space program. Throughout his speech, he empathizes with those affected by the tragedy, acknowledges the losses, and encourages everyone that they will move past this and look into the future.…
In this speech Reagan was trying to bring together the east and the west sides of Berlin. He showed this by pointing out specific people such as Mr. Gorbachev and the soviets stating that they should take down the wall that separated East and West Berlin. He wanted to appeal to the german people and show that we were there for them and would help them. He also was saying that we support them. Reagan was calling out the Russians for keeping the wall up and not allowing them to tear it down.…
On June 6, 1944, our future President Dwight D. Eisenhower who was a general at the time and Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe, gave permission for Operation Overlord. This operation was a massive invasion in Europe during the German Nazi era. Eisenhower’s motivational speech was full of positivity and confidence for the troops. Using phrases such as, “The eyes of the world are upon you,” and “We will accept nothing less than full victory,” shows how the usage in Eisenhower’s words are meant to pressure the soldiers. He therefore wants his men to know that not only does he have expectations for them, but America as well. Eisenhower appeals to the emotions of his audience by targeting the values and purpose of serving…
Our fortieth president, Ronald Reagan, spoke eloquently for many years on many different subjects and on the eve of March 4, 1987 he put on one of the finest performances of his life. Despite having just admitted to his administration knowingly circumventing the Congress and trading arms for hostages, he persuaded the American people to believe that he was genuinely sorry for his subordinates actions, and honestly seeking to reorganize and fix the issues that had caused this problem by “taking action in three basic areas: personnel, national security policy, and the process for making sure that the system works.” Through effective use of logos and ethos Reagan was able to rebound from what people would call a blunder and become one of the…
On Friday, March 11, 2016 my unit, Ben Morrell Battalion, and I arrived at Nancy Reagan’s funeral at around 0700 to honor the guests attending. We were stationed around the front entrance waiting for the guests to arrive. When the guests arrived, we snapped to attention and stood there until they had passed. I did not know who most of the guests were that passed us, but we did have the honor to greet Newt Gingrich and his wife, Larry King, and Tom Selleck. We alternated from at ease to attention for about two hours for the guests. When all of the guests had arrived, we witnessed the motorcade carrying the First Lady, former first ladies, and our former President. It was an honor to see and be in the presence of our country’s leaders. In between…
In a document titled “President Ronald Regan Defends American Morality” Ronald Reagan describes his perspective on having a positive view on American history. Regan believes that we should embrace all of our accomplishments that our country has made. He states “Much of this new political and social consensus I’ve talked about is based on a positive view of American history, one that takes pride in our country’s accomplishments and record.” He believes that we should keep moving forward with positivity of our past, regardless of the bad times.…
History is filled with stories of world changing triumphs and unlikely victories. But entangled with these tales of success is tragedy and loss. As humans push themselves to explore and discover more of what is out there, mistakes and disasters are inevitable. Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, changed the views of women as aviators forever, and won many awards, as well as the recognition of the public eye. She set several other aviation records, only to tragically disappear during her attempt to fly around the world. The very first explorer to circumnavigate the world, Ferdinand Magellan, did not even survive the journey back home. But his trip was legendary and changed the worldview of his time. The deaths of these celebrated individuals are examples of how catastrophe often accompanies the advancement of humanity. On the January 28, 1986, the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded less than two minutes into flight, leading to the death of seven crew members. Ronald Reagan is clearly aware of the pattern of loss and exploration when he addresses the tragedy. The purpose of Reagan’s address is to express condolences for those lost, and to prompt citizens to…
According to James Carter, “I promised you a president who is not isolated from the people, who feels your pain, and who shares your dreams and who draws his strength and his wisdom from you.” Indeed, these words echoed throughout many American televisions on July 15, 1979. James Earl Carter, Jr. better known as Jimmy Carter, our 39th president uttered these words as he addressed the nation with his famous Crisis of Confidence speech. Moreover, the quote showed Carter had concern and empathy for the issues the nation faced, and was willing to lead the nation through. In addition, Carter is considered one of the most influential leaders in the past and present day because of all of the accomplishments before, during, and after his presidency, such as: he became the Governor of the state of Georgia, he negotiated to produce the Camp David Accords, he founded the Carter Center, and he won the Nobel Peace Prize.…
On January 20, 1981, newly elected President Ronald Reagan addressed the issue of economic affliction of great proportions in the United States. He described the situation as one of the worst sustained inflations in the history of the country. According to Reagan, this happened as a result of frequent public spending, with no regard for the future. Thus, tremendous social, cultural, political, and economic upheavals were to come. To fix this, Reagan proposed that they must begin acting as soon as possible. His main philosophy was that government itself was the problem, and it was hindering the progress of citizens across the country. As a result, he made it the administration’s objective to create a healthy, growing economy that provided equal…

Some could argue how American politics are less of a presidential race, but instead became a celebrity race. Nonetheless, Reagan imposes a heavy focus on traditional values. For America’s former structure has been tested by time, guaranteed to succeed in years to come and must be returned to for the sake of the future. He tries to make Americans feel as though they belong by aligning those who support freedom alongside himself and God, while simultaneously painting an enemy for people to root against.…

When he sought to end the Cold War, he revised policies and stood against the Soviet Union during these tough times. To help bridge the gap to ending the Cold War, he pushed his Strategic Defense Initiative. This proved to be extremely critical to the collapse of the empire which led to the ending of the Cold War. Reagan was repeatedly praised for his work and efforts in order to get this done. Reaganomics would be considered another major accomplishment for Reagan. Reaganomics is a term that represented his economic policies. “The four pillars of Reagan's economic policy were to reduce the growth of government spending, reduce the federal income tax and capital gains tax, reduce government regulation, and tighten the money supply in order to reduce inflation.” Essentially, what Reagan wanted to do with this passage was make severe tax cuts, to deregulate, and to place a tight restraint on domestic spending. The result of this was rather rewarding for the American people. Reaganomics created 16 million new jobs for Americans. He also was well known for accomplishing GOP revitalization. When he revitalized the GOP, free-market industries and pro-liberty conservatism helped. His Peace through Strength philosophy is also known as one of his most decorated accomplishments as President. When he spoke this, he…
