The Holocaust Will Never Happen Again

There are many events that have happened throughout history that are important enough and that have raised enough awareness that we still study and learn about them today. One of those important events being the Holocaust is something that is still being talked about and learned today through the book called Night by Elie Wiesel and other various sources. The Holocaust was an event in history that should never be forgotten and is urgent to learn about still to this day because of the horrible things that happened to the Jews and so we are prepared so the Holocaust never happens again.

It’s important to give recognition to how cruelly the Jews were treated in the concentration camps by simply just being themselves, human. For example, in
Who’s to say that the Holocaust will never happen again? In the book Night it says “ the Germans arrested the leaders of the Jewish community. From that moment on everything happened very quickly. The race toward death had begun. First edict: Jews were prohibited from leaving their residences for three days, under penalty of death. The same day, the Hungarian police burst into every Jewish home in town: a Jew was henceforth forbidden to own gold, jewelry, or any valuables. Everything had to be handed over to the authorities, under penalty of death. Three days later, a new decree: every Jew had to wear a yellow star” (Wiesel 10-11). Everything that happened to the Jews happened so quickly and no one was prepared or ready for what was happening because they had no idea what was going on at the time. Many of the Jews were so ignorant and did not want to accept or believe what was happening. They thought that their community was perfect and that nothing bad could happen in their community. This is proven in the book Night when it says “ The Red Army is advancing with giant strides… Hitler will not be able to harm us, even if he wants to…” “Yes, we even doubted his resolve to exterminate us. Annihilate an entire people? Wipe out a population dispersed throughout so many nations?
Some people say that the Holocaust never happened because there have been no traces of buried bodies or ashes, and no mentioning of gas being used… but what about the Jews who survived the Holocaust (some who are still alive today) who have talked about what happened and their experience during the Holocaust? There are always going to be skeptics and people who disagree with the Holocaust, but there is no possible way that the Holocaust never happened. The reality of the matter is that the Holocaust did occur and many Jews got tortured, executed and died because of it but some people are just too ignorant to believe that.

To summarize, there are various reasons as to why we still study and should never forget the Holocaust to this day. The book called Night written by a Jew who experienced the Holocaust named Elie Wiesel perfectly proves the many reasons why the Holocaust was so important by describing in detail the torture that the Jews went through and all of the horrific things that happened during the Holocaust. Without the Holocaust, we would never have a full understanding of what pain, devastation, and hopelessness the Jews suffered
