The Fastest Growing Career Field
According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, it is predicted that this career field will grow a total of eighteen percent between the years 2012 to 2023, and it should continue grow afterwards, due to the continued growth of healthcare related industries. It is one of the fastest growing career fields. Since my chosen career field will continue to grow, I will have a good chance of getting a job when I graduate from medical school. If it continues to grow, then I should be able find me a job fairly easy. Even if there would not be a high demand for doctors in the United States, I could easily find a job overseas which has a high demand for doctors, too.

There are a number of factors contributing to the shortage of primary care physicians. The simple rule of supply and demand is driving the physician shortage. The existing primary care physician workforce is shrinking as the demand for primary care services is increasing because of the aging population and the expected number of insured Americans who will enter the system through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Christian, 2011). The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is the federal statute that attempts to reform the American healthcare system by providing more Americans with affordable health insurance (Currie, 2013). Some other reasons why there is a shortage of primary care physicians is that a significant portion of the physician workforce (33%) is over the age of 55 and is planning to retire in the next ten to fifteen years (Amirault, 2014). The number of U.S. medical students going into…

Four of those years are to receive your Bachelor’s degree. During those four years you take all of your core classes, which include a lot of psychology and philosophy and about three levels of many different sciences. After you graduate you then have to apply to medical school. This is often an entirely different college. You take in depth courses on each branch of medicine, which normally takes about four more years. These courses involve a lot of memorization of every common and uncommon illness and their symptoms. After their final four years, they get their experience in a…

The medical field isn’t for everyone there are a lot of hours you have to stay overtime and a lot of people that you have to put up with. From personal experience I can safely say you have to have a lot of patience for a job in the medical field. One of the reasons I like the medical field so much is the fact that I very quickly picked up on the practices and terminology. When I went on a call the first few times I felt like I knew exactly what I was suppose to do it was like I was supposed to be there.…
