The Definition Of Beauty
The Definition of Beauty
When do we say “beauty” what comes to your mind first? Actually, beauty is a combined with qualities, such as shape, color, or form that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. However, I bet most will not say outer beauty, how a person looks, dresses and smells. For me, beauty is all on the inner side, which is specifically having a good heart and integrity of the spirit. That is what many people look at once they see Oprah Winfrey. There is still the fact that, even though good-looking is important for people, however, the personality is much more significant. What a person acts and behaves does make the person more beautiful than he already is. What society has done is set up an image of perfection and real beauty that is not true. Therefore, beauty would be defined by having a lovely heart and spirit, in addition to helping others.
In my view, beauty is a combined with good heart and spirit. Many people are unaware of the true meaning of beauty. Beauty is the prettiness of morality, intellect, and maturity of mind. Therefore, there are some symptoms of inner prettiness, such as when a person has wonderful thoughts, intelligent, kind, flexible, characterized by generosity and good manners, would not you call him super attractive? For instance, the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, the beast is a very scary looking person from the outside, but his inner beauty is what makes him so polite, gentle, and loving. This is what made beauty loves him, ‘the beast’s soul’. Beauty does not change the outward appearance of a person. It simply found in the personality, inside the body and that is what is seen as attractive. Thus, with no doubt, you will fall in love with those people who have an amazing personality, which is full of kindness.
Additionally, having the sense of helping others is the second way of defining beauty. According to the recent studies in the U.K it has shown that the real gorgeousness is not when a person has a

The common physical beauty is what Elaine Scarry called “a symmetry of everyone’s relation to one another” in her book called On Beauty and Being Just (1999). This means that beautiful subjects or objects are evenly proportioned and ideal in all their forms. In other words, if symmetry is perfection, then beauty is perfection too. At the same time, as absolute symmetry does not exist- beauty is a divine feature of “chosen”. Meanwhile, I have my own interpretation of physical beauty. This is the idea of beauty that is not just a physical appearance of a person or object. This is the universal “beauty” I was talking about in the introduction of the paper. In my opinion, physical beauty that relates to the beauty of objects or subjects…

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines beauty as, “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” After watching the many different video clips and also looking at this dictionary definition, I would have to say I agree closer more with the dictionary definition. Looking back on the different video clips, I think the one that stood out most to me was the film clip of the movie Summer Magic. After the clip was over, I caught myself being very unpleased with the message. I couldn’t believe that this movie was trying to tell girls that if…

What is beauty? Beauty, by definition, is, “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit” (Merriam-Webster). Throughout her life, Lucy Grealy struggles with her own definition of beauty. To her, beauty equals happiness. As a cancer patient, she underwent many surgeries which left her with a disfigured face. Since she did not think she was beautiful, she was not happy, or rather, she would not allow herself to be happy. “I didn’t deserve it, and thus I shouldn’t want it. She blames all of her unhappiness and misfortune on the way her face looks, when in reality, she is causing herself to be unhappy by dwelling on the negative aspects of her life. She says,…

Everyone has their own opinions on what beauty consists of. It is in cliché expression “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” This means beauty can come from within a person’s soul or from the outside of looking at woman’s body. As it just happened, saying the word “beauty” on most occasions comes hand in hand with the word woman. In the story “A Woman’s Beauty: Put – Down or Power Source” by Susan Sontag. Sontag states; “To be called beautiful is thought to name something essential to women’s character and concerns. (In contrast to men whose essence is to be strong or effective, or competent.)” (Sontag.488.1) The word beautiful may not seem synonymous with men in 2015 but handsome is, as the word “handsome” feels more masculine.…

The term beauty is derived from the two Latin terms bellus and bonus, meaning pretty and good. Early societies would use these terms to compliment or describe someone’s appearance or actions. Many people have heard of the old saying that “beauty comes from within.” Although beauty is difficult to define due to differential views, the majority of people may agree that it is a person’s personality that makes them beautiful. According to Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, beauty is“the quality of being physically attractive.” Although this definition is somewhat true, it is not all that defines the term. Due to a new uprising in pop culture, beauty is now defined only by the attractive, physical traits a person has. Also, this generation attempts to sell beauty as a vapid and superficial pursuit that exists solely to sell products and wag tongues. Beauty is actually precisely identified, purposeful, and has…

    What Is Beauty?

As the very popular saying goes, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!" Many people have different views on what they consider to be beautiful which is why many people that I would view as unattractive are very beautiful in someone else's eyes. The world today defines beauty based on outward appearances alone. You are not beautiful if you are not physically attractive. According to the world's standards, beauty means being thin and tall. A clear complexion, shiny hair, straight teeth, radiant skin, and correct proportions are all elements of beauty. Unfortunately, numerous people cannot be all of these things and they are forced to believe that they are not beautiful in the eyes of others. Another saying that is very popular is, "Beauty is only skin deep." I do not believe that this statement is true for the reason that with all the cosmetic surgery, technology and make-up that we have in the world today beauty is bought and not natural. Beauty can also be determined by a person's personality and not necessarily by their looks because the way a person presents him or herself can make all the difference in the world. The most unattractive person can also display beautiful characteristics and it will conceal their appearance. Is beauty only conveyed in one particular color? No, African Americans are produced in many different shades, vanilla, caramel, mocha, coffee and chocolate. Black is in fact beautiful and there is no other race that can measure up to the beauty that is displayed by African Americans. In my opinion, people should not focus solely on the outside appearance because that can damage ones self-esteem. Parents should raise their children to appreciate the thoughts and actions of a person opposed to the looks of a person. Our priorities in American today are not at all in order but maybe one-day society will learn that beauty is not…
