1. "Its what you have always wanted to accomplish everyone, when they are young, knows what their Personal Legend is. "At that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. They are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. But, as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realize their Personal Legend."(Pg. 21) This quote is when the king meets up with Santiago and talks with him about his Personal Legend. "The boy noted that there was a sense of fear in the air, even though no one said anything"(Pg.86) Santiago figured out another language of the world just like love he figured out another language of the world and it is fear. He figured it out in the desert when he thought that he was going to be raided by the war that was going on.
5. "The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon."(Pg.34) This is talking about when the king told Santiago the story of the guy who either focused on the spoon and when he didn’t the oil spilled. The quote is saying to have a balance of doing what you want and still doing what you have to do to be able to do what you want to do.
6."When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you in achieving it"(Pg. 40) Santiago uses these words to help him keep going in his journey for his personal legend. He used what the king had said the whole time he was in search of his personal legend. 10.“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.” (Pg.77) These are words of advice for Santiago when he is kind of lost on what to do with his search on his personal legend. He says search look in your heart then you know what your treasure will be.
11."Its called the principle of favorability, beginner's luck. Because life wants you to achieve your personal legend." (Pg.52) Santiago is quoting what the king had said to him to a merchant when they were having a discussion. The merchant understood what Santiago said surprisingly.
12."Cant you just observe men and omens in order to understand the language?" (Pg.81) Santiago asked the Englishman about the language of the world and Santiago didn’t understand how you learn the language.
13.“When each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.” (Pg. 25) This is about when people who don’t know or realize the great things that happen each and every day.
