Telling the Truth
Telling the truth.
It is true that Lies are so much more interesting and the truth is boring. Well so they say. What do you think, isn’t it so much more creative to tell lies? Let’s say for example, I could tell you I caught the bus to School this morning as usual, and no one would be interested. However if I told I was driven to school on a fire engine and I got to work the sirens, this would be so much more interesting.

So why tell the truth, let’s all create a fantasy world and live in in it. We can all tell lies about ourselves and make everyone believe we are something actually different to our real selves. We could just take stuff that doesn’t belong to us, we could always say the dog ate our homework; we could all stay at home whenever we wanted to and pretend we were sick. Oh and we could let our governments always lie to us and our parents always lie to us even our best friends tell lies to us.

What, I hear you saying that’s not very nice, oh wait someone out there is thinking, well that it’s wrong to lie. Of course it is. We should always tell the truth not only because it is the right thing to do, but we need to know the truth or the uncertainty in our lives would be so big we may never be able to trust anyone.
Telling the truth , Makes believe you are strong, telling the truth makes people believe in you, telling the truth helps us to believe in each other, because if we can’t trust one another then the world is truly a sad place.

In conclusion lies may be interesting in the short term but TRUTH is always

Lies are told every day by you, me, and even your close loved ones. Everyone lies at some point in their lives. The simple true is we all lie. While reading the “Ways We Lie” by Ericsson’s it was very clear that lies are being told more than the truth. She explains many different types of lies being told from the smallest of lies to protect the emotional state of others, to the extreme lies being told and merely ignoring the plain facts of lies that cause real pain.…

Lies are told around the world multiple times during the day. Everyone sitting in this room has probably once today, said a lie. Sometimes lying is understandable for someone’s protection but sometimes the truth is essential to the person. There are multiple things people say in a day that are seen as lies such as “That outfit looks really good on you!,” “It wasn’t me!” and “I’ll be with you in a few minutes.” Honestly is not always the best policy because in the end it does not make everything better. People tell little lies so that they protect someone they care about and not hurt the feelings of another person. Honesty not always being the best policy is showed in The Scarlet Letter, “Tell All The Truth” poem, the “He Lies” video,…

The debate over the acceptability of lying is a complicated one. Some feel that it is morally wrong and only ever worsens a situation. Others feel that it is acceptable in cases where feelings could be hurt, or if a person’s self-esteem may be lowered. However, there are instances in which lying happens simply to avoid the consequences of a person’s actions, and most would agree that it is morally wrong. Instead of going back and forth between “lying is wrong” and “lying is okay sometimes,” a better use of our time would be learning to improve our honesty with ourselves and with the people around…

One time I tried going a couple of days without telling a lie, and it was devastating. I noticed that telling the truth all the time is very impossible. Telling the truth comes with some serious consequences: Bank of America charges me 50 dollars fee for going over my limit, lost my best friend because I told her how I truly feel, and I received a failing grade for telling my teacher I didn’t feel like being on time to class today. Basically there must be some type of merit to not telling the truth.…

Being raised in the Capitalist system based on competition, we were taught that it was fine to tell lie. Some argued that it was fine to lie when it is a death and live matter, others may argue that it is o.k to lie if it doesn't hurt any one. On my personal level, I don't feel it is morally comfortable to lie to anyone. Because of the society we live in is filled with lies and mistrust doesn't mean we, as the newest generation should learn to lie. Instead, I want to live in a lie free life.…

It is curious to know that every day without thinking everyone tells lies “The Ways we lie” by Stephanie Ericcson is a realistic text that demonstrates what a lie is, why lies are told, how lies are justified, and consequences. According to this essay “We lie. We all do. We exaggerate, we minimize, we avoid confrontation, we spare people's feelings, we conveniently forget, we keep secrets, we justify lying to the big-guy institutions.” (Page 408 of The Bedford Reader). Ericsson analyze the different ways we use lies to help and hurt our self in our everyday lives, and how this effects American culture. The purpose of this essay is not to make people feel bad about themselves or to censure anybody, but to make people think before they lie.…

Why should one tell the truth if it’s one’s advantage to lie? This question caught my attention as I scanned through a thick, old and tattered encyclopedia. While I was sitting on a green comfy chair parallel to a wooden table, I pondered upon the said question coming from a renowned philosopher named Ludwig Wittgenstein who formulated the theory of truth. It was said that he spent his entire life answering the question which made me wonder how long it would take me to provide the answer to this query. This speculation then reminded me of one instance in my life where in I needed to lie for a certain purpose. At first, I was bothered by my conscience but later on I realized that I did the right thing. To be untruthful is inescapable in this world. Not a soul is capable of getting away with it. If truth be told, life as it is could not exist without lying. To lie is to deviate from the truth deliberately but it does not always follow that lying is bad.…
