Television Boon or Bane
TELEVISION BOON OR BANE

Television is a striking creation of science in the world of technology. Fifty years ago, almost no one had television set. Now there are more household with TV than ever. Everything has boons and banes so television also has many boons and banes. Television is a resource that can be used to educate and entertain people of different ages. Without any doubt, watching TV is a good way of getting informed. Watching news gives a good insight into what really is happening in the world. Television has also done a great job in the field of education. There are many quiz shows on television which increase the knowledge of students.
Now a days children spend about 25 hours a week in front the television.Children study less and watch TV more. The typical man is sitting in front the television, and he has only eyes for the video screen. The bright colors, and the rapid movements showed on TV capture the man's attention. According to Moody this event happen for about four hours a day. Now, this is exactly where problems start. In my opinion, it is entirely wrong to sit in front of a television set all day just in order to pass the time. There are so many better ways to spend your day. I don't think anybody can sit in an armchair watching TV all without eventually losing focus; at some stage, you will inevitably end up just staring at the screen, devoid of any thoughts of your own. The problem with TV in this regard is that your role as a participant is a passive one. You can develop your own thoughts about what is going on, but you are not forced to do

Television can shape the way we learn for the better or worse. It’s no secret that too much of anything is bad for us and the same can be said about the television. The first 2 years of life are considered a critical time for brain development. The APA recommends, kids younger than two are recommended to not watch television, kids older then two are recommended to only watch two hours (How TV). Although television focuses more on the visual aspect than the substantive. I believe that there are two types of learners, those who learn by listening to information, and those who learn best by seeing it before them. For both types of learners TV is perfect. Television has almost everything you would like to learn. For instance if you wish to learn about animals, there is the Nature channel as well as the Animal planet. Granted, there are masses of not educational shows but, if you watch the educational ones you are bound to learn something. The educational shows have a wide range of…

Television is just another part of technology keeping us from viewing the world and living our lives as we should. Instead of coming out of our house and taking on any challenge the world might have for us, we easily give up to our laziness, which quickly makes us grab the bag of chips, the soda, and sit down. Even though I am one of the many people who just loves to have the remote by their side, I strongly believe that television is nothing but detrimental to our society.…

As a child, television was entertaining and I have learned alot by whatching it. Although, over the years, I have learned that television does more harm than good. In the one hand, we can learn about world's problems, it keeps informing us about what's happening in music, film industry etc. We can find out what will the weather be like the next day or the day after that. We can watch Discovery channel or National geographic to learn about history, life or aliens. If you wacth a science program, you can get known about the science development, what reserch we have finished and what we are still reserching for. If you are interested in sports you can watch ´live´ matches __________________.…

A major issue now facing members of the public is television. Is it good or is it bad? Well television is in my opinion very good. For starters it is very cheap all you pay is the one off payment for the television and your TV licence every month. For the price you pay you receive a lot of information and entertainment for the whole family. Television keeps the children busy when you may want a bit of peace and quiet, whilst teaching them at the same time through educational programmes. Television also helps to develop the child's mind by showing them lots of different things and what not to do. Television provides lots of educational programmes for young people to learn and because there is picture people can get an interactive tour into whatever they are studying. It provides vital facts in all subjects such as, science, general knowledge and it even shows you how to make and do things you may not have been able to do before.…
