Team Sports
Being in a sport has many benefits to the player, emotional and physical. Team participation enables a person to participate more, be responsible, and be committed. Being in a team also allows a person to better themselves in the sport by practicing and establish goals. Overall, team participation allows a person to be the best on and off the field or court or whatever surface they play on. Participating in a sport helps build self esteem by allowing you to do something that will improve you physically which then helps you feel better about yourself. To engage in a sport allows you to be more social because you need to be able to communicate with your team in order to play better as a group. Softball player, Megan Rienks, used to be shy and timid but when she started playing, she became more outgoing and she established close bonds with her teammates. Partaking in a sport, enhances responsibility, because you have more motivation to be responsible when you’re accountable to everyone else. Lacrosse player, Brandon Castaneda, says he makes sure to do his homework ahead of time and if he doesn't keep his grades up, he will get kicked off the team. Being a participant to a sport, also maintains wellness because it improves fitness, provides an opportunity to socialize, and releases endorphins that counteract depression and makes you feel good. In a team, everyone is playing their best, which brings out the best in you as well. Everyone is encouraged by their teammate which in turn allows you to improve your skill level. To play in a team, allows you to build commitment to practice. Practicing in a team builds with discipline and demonstrates the benefits of practice. Soccer player, Jonathan Rivera, loves the sport and he’s committed to getting better and to him that means attending every practice. Lastly being in a team allows you to enjoy every moment with your team and celebrate a game whether win or lose a game. Enjoying every moment with a team is much more
