Course Description
Human resource programming, job requirements, sources of labor supply, selection procedures, training programs, job evaluation, salary administration, employee communication, union-management relations. Credit: 3 hours.

Course Objectives/Student Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, a student should be able to:
1. Examine the current issues, trends, and legislation that impact the field of human resource management. This will include ethical issues in HR, global diversity, employee relations, workplace health, safety, and security issues, and other trends.
2. Demonstrate the necessary skills for planning workforce needs, and the recruitment and selection of employees.
3. Evaluate various techniques and methods to maximize motivation and performance.
4. Assess the training and development needs within an organization, and critique various approaches for meeting these needs.
5. Describe how to develop and administer a compensation and benefits program.
6. Explain the labor management issues that arise in a union environment. Students will examine the federal laws that govern labor relations, and acquire an understanding of the collective bargaining process and resolution of grievances.
