Nike Nike is a major publicly traded clothing, footwear, sportswear, and equipment supplier based in the United States. It is one of the biggest companies in the world. It was not a big company at first, however, with its many strengths, it finally became a symbol of sportswear. * Strengths * Tailored to the needs of every athlete: “get all geared up” option on website takes you through a series of questions to find the perfect gear for you. * Personal: Through NIKEiD athletes are able to express their individual style. * Beginner Friendly: “If you have a body, you are an athlete.” This definition of an athlete represents the potential of every human on the planet. * Motivational: Mission statement: “To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world” * Recognizable: Nike swoosh is instantly known. “Just do it” is also associated with Nike. * Global brand: Number one sports brand in the world. Revenues of over 20 billion while second place sports brand (Adidas) is bringing in 5 billion. * Top of athletic game: With new ideas and technology Nike leaves competitors in defensive mode. * Weaknesses * High prices compared to competitors * Labor law problems: 1. Have young kids working in factories 2. Poor working conditions * Marketing Breakdown: 1. Over 55% of sales come from shoes 2.
