Swot Analysis for Ducth Bros.
SWOT Analysis
A SWOT analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats of an organization in order to maintain and sustain a competitive advantage. I have listed four under each category that I feel are most important to Dutch Bros.
Internal Strengths:
Customer Service: Customer friendly environment and quick service
Positive Brand image: Very well known throughout the western states
Community Involvement: Each kiosks donates 1% of proceeds back to the community
Family Owned: Most all Dutch Bros. are locally owned and operated, so corporate managers are in charge of dispersing funding throughout the community appropriately
Internal Weaknesses:
Product Mix: Dutch Bros. should expand and acquire new products such as pastries to differentiate themselves even more from their competition
Music: At times the music is played loud and I have to shout my order
Limited Variety: There is a limited selection of drinks
Hours: Not open for business 24 hours a day
External Opportunities:
Product Expansion: Expand current menu while adding pastries
To-Go Boxes: Catering to those who wish to make large orders for local businesses, schools, etc.
Expand Hours: Open business for 24 hours a day
Campus Locations: Expand their current market by partnering with the local colleges
External Threats:
Competition: Human Bean and Starbucks
To-Go Boxes: Both the Human Bean and Starbucks offer to-go boxes for large orders
Pastries: Starbucks offers a wide variety of fresh pastries. The Human Bean offers muffins, granola bars, etc.
Coffee Houses: A sit down, third space environment that you don’t get from a drive thru coffee

Starbucks has two segments of customers. First we have the “take out” customers, who buy their coffees and snacks on the way to work or to school, and are going to consume it either in the public transports or at their workplace. Then they have the “drink in” customers, who come to Starbucks in order to enjoy a moment inside the coffee shop, either with friends, family or colleagues, or on their own to enjoy a coffee by themselves.…
