Back then, women weren’t able vote or participate in anything with politics. Believing that it was unfair that women did not have the same rights as men, Anthony thought that women should have the with same rights. Consequently, she talked in conventions and at meetings and started a newspaper about women in the civil rights movement. Protesting by voting, which then convicted her and they charged her, but she refused to pay, and that made the court to not look into it anymore.
