The second stanza syntactical structure illustrates complexity of childhood experiences between a child and their parents. The placement of ‘father’s” before the “Big Books” suggests that the father owned the big books because their is a possessive apostrophe. The physical placement of words shows the interdependent nature of the books in relation to the father within the phrase of the stanza. This shows that the existence of the book and the pages depends on the father. The sequence described in the first line however is not in sequential order, thus not having order can symbolize Li -Young Lee’s state of mind is disorganized without his father. Furthermore there is no punctuation in the passage, and their is no transition between the first…
Li-Young Lee’s poem “A Story” shows the complicated relationship between the father and the son by utilizing the literary devices of point of view and structure. Italicized lines distinguish the diction of who is talking to draw on point of view to indicate the complex relationship. Through changing perspective, Lee employs emotional interests to emphasize the conflicting perspectives that exist between father and son. Lee also adds depth to the shared “love” between the two characters to illuminate the theme of innocence and changing relationships over the course of time.…
The anger that the father feels due to his unfortunate circumstances is prevalent throughout the poem and it leads to a strain on the relationship with the speaker as a child. The troubled economy resulted in the father losing his job; the speaker tells us that it was after this occurred that he…
The person whom I admire the most is Ronnie Radke. Pioneer in the music industry, a Hercules in the world of philosophy, and pristine with his manor. As the rhythm keeps changing so do the scales that follow the next note, the tempo in which Ronnie tunes too has been consistent since the day he vocalized his art into our ears. Ronnie is the lead singer in a band known as “Falling In Reverse”, which developed over a period of time after trial and error from his prior band known as “Escape The Fate”. The contrast that follows Ronnie towards his vast success is how he got to the top. His music really conveys a slice of his mind into the listener’s; by using western and Eastern philosophy accompanied by very habitable melodies. Ronnie has gone through a series of disillusions that have given him the eccentric feel when he performs.…
Hounded, the 1st of The Iron Druid Chronicles series was written by a newly found author named Kevin Hearne. All books in the series are urban fantasy. This aspect of the books makes them very intriguing because they combine a lot of fantasies and mythology (and not only vampires and werewolves) with the modern day world. The protagonist in Hounded, as well as the rest of the series, is Atticus O’Sullivan. Or at least that’s the name he’s taken on for now. You see, Atticus is a Druid, or a magical being that has the power to shape-shift into certain animals, conduct some magic, and draw power from the earth by a connection through a tattoo up his or her arm. Atticus is a special Druid because he is the last real Druid. There are many in this age that calls themselves Druids because they choose to live as they did. But Atticus also has one other special feature: he can live forever.…

It was on the computer that Sam met a 43 year old pedophile with whom he later had sexual relations. After dealing with his very own parents trying to commit him, Sam Manzie finally lost it. Many would say that he brought his fate upon himself, but who is really to blame?…
I am Jane. I’m a 9th grader at North Garland, who knows that life shouldn’t be taken for granted. I know that my family will always be there for me. I know that friends come and go, and that I should enjoy the time we have until they’re gone. My mandala represents what I am at this point and time in my life. The mandala tells little aspects of my life that I think are truly important to me; family, friends, hope, faith, and love.…

The picture above is a section of John Trumbull's Declaration of Independence. The full painting shows 48 members of Congress. Of the 48 portraits in the original painting, four of the men were present at the Declaration's adoption on July 4, 1776, but did not sign the document. The painting also does not include portraits of fifteen of the men who did sign the Declaration over several days in August, 1776.…
Do you think digital media is changing our lives? It’s a question with many answers, both good, bad and indifferent. In this generation technology is the biggest topic. The second reason is me and my sister will have major things that we miss, that we won’t be able to see again.
