Streng and Weakness in Writing
My Strengths and Weaknesses in Writing
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let’s move on to my weaknesses.
Writing deficiencies, I have plenty. My biggest problem is figuring out how to write what I am thinking. I have never been proficient at this task. It looks good to me when I read it, but when I turn the paper over to someone else; they do not find the point I was trying to convey. Typically, I have to verbally express the meaning of the paper to them. This is the area in which I would like to excel in this class.
Second, I have never really enjoyed writing. I just tried to make the best of it when I was forced to endure it. It seems I have a tendency to focus on the tasks I enjoy doing most and turning away from the difficult ones. I feel if I take care of the “easy stuff” I can get more done. This is why I save the hardest for last. Now that I have returned to college, my hardest task has become my first chore. Can you see the irony?
Thirdly, sentence structure and punctuation. What a complete pain in my neck. I would much rather complete the writing and have someone else worry about the correct syntax. Most of the time, I do not have issues with run on sentences or periods. It is all the rest of them. I found colons are good for making the eyes on smiley faces in my email (:-) ), but I am not too sure how to correctly use them. Please don’t even get me started talking about semicolons or hyphens. My only saving grace is I still want to learn these skills.
Last but not least, reading. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy reading topics I enjoy, such as the news or good science fictions novels. My issue is with all of the dry textbooks that are required reading of in every

I find writing a very neutral subject because I am not terrible nor excellent at it. I have always written enough for it to be satisfactory. Therefore, I believe that one of my strengths as a writer is being able to understand what I have to write about and knowing what I want to say. I question myself every step of the way, asking myself “ Is what I am writing, answering the topic that I am addressing?” However, with that said, I believe that my weakness lies in that fact that I cannot put my thoughts into words. I have a vast amount of ideas that never get a chance to come alive on paper. I feel that I am not very good at transitions and sentence structures. Another weakness is that it takes me an awful long…

I will not lie; my strengths when it comes to writing are few. The greatest strength so far has been topic choice. As a writer, I believe I have several strengths as well as challenges. Beginning with my strengths, I believe I have a passion for writing. When I write I make it easy to follow my train of thought from simple word selection to more complex thoughts. I also have my topics organized in a pattern designed for an easy flow from start to finish of what is written. While I strive to keep it simple, sometimes I have to get creative to capture and keep my readers attention. For my challenges, I believe my limited vocabulary may be a problem along with thoughts that do not convey any useful information. In order to improve my writing skills, I have to read, re-read, and re-read again to make sure I stick to the topic at hand.…

Writers all have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their writings. They all have them but my weaknesses are my grammar, spelling, and my punctuation. First of I don’t really understand all of the rules of grammar, therefore I am not good at grammar in the first place. The thing that I know I can't do the most out of all three of these topics is my spelling. I am so bad at spelling and it can be very bad on my writings, my punctuation could use some work also. I either forget to use it or just don't know that I was supposed to. I feel like it is a good thing that I am taking this class because I need…

Thinking of creative ways on how to develop my paper is a strong suit I benefit while taking on a writing assignment. When given a topic to write about, I write down what comes into my head. I do not worry about the word count if the sentences make sense on paper or even punctuation. I write to avoid forget any important points I might have thought of. This method of writing is where my weaknesses show. Sometimes what I wrote makes sense in my head, but not on paper. Other challenges I face with writing assignments are time management and punctuation.…

With all this being said about my writing weaknesses I still find ways to enjoy writing and work past the struggles in writing- I may not be the most organized writer in the world, while the graphic organizers do indeed help me, but I always find myself changing my mind on what to write, whatever sounds better to the ear to me. My desire to change what I already have written may be why I’m unorganized at times. One thing that anybody that truly knows me knows, is that I rarely ever quit something once it is started, and I will continue to do my best until it is physically impossible for me to do…

Throughout my life writing has been very difficult. As a kid a speech impediment impaired my ability to learn to read properly. Because I struggled at reading, I also struggled at writing. Writing in journals for class or writing stories for entertainment proved to be great fun. The writing level of elementary and middle school was easy to learn and work with. Arriving in high school, I felt confident in my writing skills. High school level writing proved to be more challenging. After English I, I felt unprepared for the rest of my high school writing experience. I grew to become uninterested in writing for the next two years. I procrastinated finishing any writing assignment I was given. Though I received decent grades on my assignments, I could have received better grades had I not procrastinated writing my assignments. My attitude toward writing has changed from disinterested to excited with my Composition I and II classes. I have learned much in the first semester of this course and I have grown to enjoy writing again because of this…

A lack of patience is the main reason I have trouble with writing. Before college, I was unwilling to put a significant amount of time into truly understanding a topic, forming a credible standpoint, and editing the paper. Nonetheless, it was important for me to complete the writing assignments to have a grasp of writing skills. Although writing has played a significant role in my education up to this point, it will not necessarily be an important part in my career choice of nursing.…
