During my holiday celebrations. I spent a few days at my cousin's house at Vung Tau, a famous places about sea. I shall never forget that visit.

On the day I arrived at Vung Tau, my cousin told me that he would show me many interesting places. He said that he would come to the beach with me so as to swim. Then he would teach me how to use fishing net to catch some fish in the shallow waters near the coast. When I heard all this, I was very delighted because it was for these reasons that I had decided to visit my cousin. Then, we walked on the beach which is near his house.
While we were there, sometime in the evening, the sea looked extremely beautiful. I saw the islands and hills in the distance, the birds in the air, and a few boys and girls playing on the beach. I also saw some fishermen coming out of the water with their catch. All this was indeed very interesting to look at.

On the next day, we went out to catch some crabs and fish. We used the net that we had bought and caught a lot of fish. Then, we had our lunch and went out on the small ship. we continued to row it as far as we could. It was really a pleasure to be away from the shore. The sea was calm and we could row with ease. My cousin told me many interesting things about Vung Tau. We then returned to the shore.

In this way, I spent my holidays happily at Vung Tau, a place I shall never

From these passages we can infer the people of Vietnam were very proud and fair warriors. Some examples of this is that they were exceedingly patriotic, would fiercely fight for their independence, and that they were very humble. For example, we know they are very patriotic because when in battle, if they knew that they would lose, they would commit suicide because they would rather die than fail their country. Furthermore we know they would fight to the end for their independence because when fighting the French they were overpowered by hundreds, but still fought fearlessly and defeated the French in the end. Finally we can infer their humbleness because of their reaction when defeating the Chinese when they invaded Vietnam. Instead of forcing…

Vietnam is a remote land with a vast array of forests and wetlands, which are rich in wildlife and natural resources. For this reason, many more advanced nations attempted to overtake Vietnam in conquest. Vietnamese history is scattered with war, slavery, and triumph. Outside influences attempted to help the struggling country re-build and repair a torn culture (Hai Venu, 2009). To better understand a culture there needs to be an understanding of the people that made up the history. In this paper, a better understanding will be gained to why the Vietnamese people are so passionate and have fought so hard for their freedom (Vietnam & 20th Century Experience, Lesson 1).…

Studying the prior history of Vietnam is important because we learn that Vietnam was completely under French rule by 1893 (Week One Lecture, 2013). Why was Vietnam such a prized possession to have? Vietnam’s location was significant within itself; Vietnam had “a strategic location astride major shipping lanes linking India, China, Japan, and the islands of Southeast Asia” and served as a source of foodstuffs and raw materials (Moss, 2010, p.2). We must put ourselves in the shoes of the Vietnamese people during this time and view these events from their point-of-view also. There were territorial wars including France, Japan, and eventually the United States which all treated Vietnam and the Vietnamese people as nothing more than property that they wanted to gain and maintain control of. No respect or value of their culture was held by any of these countries, which served as another reason that Vietnam sought national identity and independence. Studying the context of the prior history of Vietnam and what the participants of this history valued helps understand the elements that led to the independence of Vietnam. All of the information needed to understand the decisions made and the actions taken by the Vietnamese people to fight for their independence is gained through studying the context of their prior history.…

Vietnam was at a time of intense political confusion during the time period of this novel. Just coming out of the Vietnam War with first France and then the United States, the country emerged as a fragile, torn state in which Communism ruled the country. The North and the South were only recently combined from two opposing sides to one country, making politics and reforms difficult for the population. Land reforms and others being implemented began creating problems in the social systems over whether or not the new, modernized, Communistic Vietnam should come forward or the old traditional Vietnam should stay as the highest priority for citizens. People such as Aunt Tam wanted to keep to the traditional values, continuing to wear the Ao Dai, and continuing to live with the more traditional values. People such as Uncle Chinh were against the old traditional values and wanted to move society toward the Communistic ways, leading his family into the Communistic changes.…

There once was a time that I went to cabo San Lucas Mexico with my family. The reason that this trip was so special too was because I got to spend a whole week with my grandparents, aunts and uncles and most importantly my parents. When we first got we went to are rooms and put are thing down then went right down to the pool. I can still remember the way the pool look and felt because I got cut on one of the tiles in the pool. One there reasons I liked the pool so much is you could just sit there and watch the sun set. Then the next day I went fishing on the beach that was so cool casting out a fishing line and sitting there waiting with family there beaches are so beautiful and nice like the ones you see in TV commercials. I haven’t even got to the best part they have a little cruise called sunset cruise. You rode on a pirate ship and watch people fight and watch the sun go down. I was a lot like the movie call peter pan. This little cruise was so special because in a hurry and I got locked out of my room I forgot to wear shoes so I was without shoes that whole night. There is one restraints that you have to go to when you are there I mean they have unreal food. They have huge tacos filled with anything you want with beans, rice and a side salad. The process of assimilation may conflict for them because they need to readjust, redefine, and reform their identities in the new culture. In the article “Vietnamese Youth No Longer Look Homeward” Nancy Wride mentioned that “My parents don’t speak much about the war. My dad did serve a year in a re-education … we suffered, it is past now and we move on.” (Wride, 1994, p…

The Vietnamese culture, is a rich heritage on many different levels, one of the best ways to view Vietnamese culture is to look at the system of yin and yang. On one side you have the yang the more male side that has more of a fondness towards hierarchy where the father or the eldest male is the leader of the family with conventional rules to follow depending on their social roles. On the other hand you have the yin moving towards human equality, female contribution, and more of an emphasis on feelings. Yin and yang are the basis for Vietnamese family life and even government policy.…

Unfortunately, Vietnamese Americans make up only a small percent of the total American Population today. There are many stereotypes associated with the Vietnamese, but the truth is, we really know very little about their culture. After the Viet Nam War, many Vietnamese citizens immigrated to the United States to escape political Prosecution and poverty. Faced with a variety of obstacles and challenges, true to Vietnamese culture, Vietnamese Americans persevered and soared above any tribulations they were faced with. Today, children are integrating smoothly within the United States public school system while still holding on strongly to their native culture.…
