On September 16, 2011, I attended a training session/lunch and learn for Valley Regional Imaging. They came to me job to show the new computer technology that we will soon have access to from our clinic. Instead of them faxing us results, we would be able to go on the computer and see our own results. The meeting was held in one of our board rooms. The room was dimly lit with a huge projection screen in the middle. The table was huge with big comfy leather chairs surrounding in. The board room was away from normal patient activity so it was very quiet. The room was actually very cold so I had to leave and get my jacket.…

As children are introduced into a new environment, they are less likely to have full communications and will by shy or silent. If one wants children to interact with each other they should start teaching kids spoken language skills in the begging of the year. It is important to do so, because they will start getting use to this new strange environment. There are a lot of steps can take in order to help children learn these new skills. Once pronounced, the meaning of the word the sentence can be illustrated using pictures or videos. Also, other materials can be used such as objects, toys, or even physically show the meaning. Sharing stories may make children want to engage in speaking. Children can also draw what they are thinking or their…

Even though this book is addressing didactic conversations many of the strategies described are applicable to larger group conversation/presentations. For example, last night several parents became very emotional and confrontational around the issue of their child being bullied in school. In attempts to disuse the situation examples of strategies that have been used in the past to address bullying. One strategy mentioned was presenting to the class about a student’s disability. My introductory communication was a typed letter addressed to the first grade families. I chose to address the letter to the first grade families instead of parents, because I know that some of my students do not live with their mother and father but with their grandparents, aunt, uncle or somebody else in their family. I decided to send the letter home with the students because I know that not every family may have access to a computer, knowing this an emailed letter would not be the best option.…

As the student thinks of new ideas and writes them down, he or she can come back to the journal at a different time, and make corrections with a clear, independent outlook. (Perna, 2004)…
