CHOICE OF CAREER IN MANAGEMENT

Statement of Purpose

“You know yourself” goes the word of Socrates. Right from my childhood, I recognized myself having a great entice towards Mathematics, for its versatile and valuable services to the mankind. Throughout my academic career I have been among the top ranking students in the class for which I was awarded the “Most outstanding Student” for excellent performance. I secured the 3rd rank in my district in the Secondary School Examination (Madhyamik) and ranked in top 0.5% among 0.25 million candidates who had appeared in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Joint Entrance Examination and was also selected for the 2nd round interviews for the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.

My Engineering degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills since Electronics engineering involves a lot complex and intricate calculations and the application of basic math skills. Over the past three years, I found myself working with the state-of-the-art technology here at IIT Kharagpur, which gave me a broad aspect of the modern technology. At the end of my junior year I got selected for an Internship at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada, where I worked on a project for the IREQ ("Institut de recherche en électricité du Québec", Quebec Electricity Research Institute) under prof. Cetin Aktik. The project involved in designing a magnetic chip which would measure the magnetic loss in between the coils of an electromagnet. I worked there with a wide variety of people with different culture and perspectives.

I have pursued a variety of extra-curricular activities as well. I served as the member of my hostel fine-arts team. Simultaneously I’m also a member of SPECTRA, the fine-arts society of IIT Kharagpur. I have also been a part

From a young age we’re asked what we want to be when we grow up, never how we expect to become when we grow up. I was well aware of what I wanted to become, but not sure how to get there until I started high school when my counselor explained to me the importance of having a full portfolio with a wide range of extracurricular activities. Then it became clear to me, I needed extracurricular activities to become who I wished to be. Throughout my high school career I’ve participated in several extracurricular actives such as math club, soccer and UIL One Act. In the future, I want to participate in these activities or anything similar to those I participated in high school.…

I am not afraid of the predators instead I am destined to achieve my goals which is to gain paramount knowledge. The above adage would exactly be sufficed for a field like business where risks and rewards are concomitant to each other. My interest in Management was laid during my under graduation with my father being in the field of business. This propelled me towards a career in management.…

I admired Descartes and Newton, who desperately dedicated their lives for mathematics. For my mathematic passion, I believed that science and technology build upon the foundation of mathematics. Earning good grades in the math courses, I gained the competence of…

As an avid pursuer of knowledge and intellectual fulfillment, I seek fresh and meaningful intellectual experiences on a consistent basis. One such experience had originated with a personal connection between my passion for mathematics - my favorite school subject for as long as I can remember - and what I had seen as a hole in the love and dedication shown by others towards mathematics that implored filling. I had wholeheartedly decided to fill the hole myself by creating a math contest for everyone in the area, and led them to enjoy the spectacle of mathematics firsthand. In so doing, I have experienced an intellectual pursuit which, to this day, and likely for the rest of my life, continues, and will continue, to provide not only satisfaction, but also a wondrous sense of accomplishment and gratification.…

My innate strengths have been my quantitative and analytical abilities, which implanted in me a special interest for mathematics and basic sciences. My bent towards mathematics and analytical skills has impelled me to choose mathematics, physics and chemistry as my major at my 10+2. A rank in the top 1% among the students who took EAMCET, a screening test taken by no less than 1, 00,000 students in our state helped me get into the bachelors program in “Computer Science and Information Technology” from Dr. Paul Raj Engineering College, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. A well-structured and comprehensive curriculum here, along with an experienced faculty, has given me a broad prospective and better understanding to the fundamentals of core Computer Science subjects viz., Computer Organization, Operating Systems, Database Management Systems, Computer Networks, Neural Networks, Object Oriented Programming, Design and analysis of Algorithms, Computer Graphics, Software Engineering etc.…
