Both Whitman’s themes and my own themes focus on the changes of life and how everyone should be able to make their lives great because they would only have a short amount of time. Thus, the themes portrayed in Whitman’s “Song of Myself” are very similar to the themes I would explain in my own version of this poem.
The first theme I would write about if I had to create my own version of “Song of Myself” is that everyone should live their life to its fullest potential and use every opportunity given to you. I find this theme important because it ensure a person of not wasting there lives on nothing and instead bettering it and maybe even bettering the world while their at it. Many people live their lives to the fullest potential by changing the world for the better and advancing the world one step at a time. A lot of people also let amazing opportunities slip by them and they end up regretting not taking that chance later in life. Some examples are job positions, trips, relationships, buying something and many more things that people regret not accomplishing in the future. No one wants to regret not doing something when their older that could've changed your whole life, so you should always try to accomplish things even if they seem impossible. It may seem hard now but all you have to do is try to accomplish every opportunity you get as hard as you can. Overall, the theme I would put in my poem would be to have everyone live their life to the fullest potential and take advantage of the opportunities given to you.
