Curiosity in My Own Words Children are young, curious, and constantly asking “why”. Adults must remain curious to continue to learn. Sir Francis Bacon said that “knowledge is power”. If this quote is true, then the definition of curiosity would be the drive or want to constantly gain knowledge and understanding. This then will lead to a desire for a higher education. Higher education will be desired because a person would not be happy with the basics of just a high school diploma. Being curious, one would consistently strive to learn more.     Even though the pope is sitting on a what viewers usually think is a sedia gestatoria, it does not appear that way. Bacon painted the sedia gestatoria slightly overlapping the pope which made the pope appear kind of hemmed in. The effect is greatly enhanced because it is thick lines of yellow. We associate yellow as light, which lead viewers to believe he is in an electric chair. Since the Middle Ages the Catholic Church had followed the Ptolemaic model of the universe, a geocentralized solar system where the Earth is orbited by the various planets in regular, crystalline spheres. The Polish astronomer Nicholas Copernicus, however, presented a system where the sun was the center of the solar system, thereby solving numerous mathematical problems encountered at the time. German astronomer Johannes Kepler further championed Copernicanism by discovering that the path of the planets' orbits is elliptical rather than circular, as was previously thought. English physicist Sir Isaac Newton would later justify this theory by establishing his laws of gravity.…
