School uniforms do not allow students to express themselves, and schools should not require students to wear them. Self-expression is an important and necessary part of life. Kent J. The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada says, “Conformity to conventional standards of appearance does not seem a justifiable part of the educational process. Clothing choices are a crucial part of self-expression.”(Procon 1) The ACLUN also states that, “Allowing students to pick out their own clothes in the morning send an empowering message that a student is a maturing person who is entitled to the most basic self-determination.”(Procon 1) Schools can either have school uniforms, which deny them of their most basic freedoms, or they can allow students to express themselves freely.
Having school uniforms in place takes student’s rights away and leaves them without individuality in schools. We are individuals, don’t uniform
