Homework doesn't take all day; realistically you will have time for other things. Homework allows practice for future endeavors, and teaches responsibility and organization skills. Homework allows children to work at their own pace, without peer pressure and afraid of falling behind during class. Homework allows time to study for tests, and go over work that you did in class. Reason being yes I understand that different classes have different papers and some have more worksheets than others but…
Homework has wasted both teachers and students time as so that teachers are required to assign and grade homework, so by eliminating homework, students will have less work to do and teachers will have less papers to grade.…
Some students don’t know what to do when the teacher assign their homework. They don’t know what to do because when the teachers assign them homework the night before to do, they spent all night doing it. Then the next day at school they are way too tired to process any work and lesson the teachers are teaching. They would just fall asleep and pay less attention. That causes the student to not know what to do and they just write down random answers. Then when they turn it in the teachers mark it wrong and give them a bad grade. Eventually with all these bad grades in their file it will bring their grades down a lot. This would just give more stress to the students and drain their energy. An average person should be getting about seven to eight hours of sleep a night not two or three…
Moreover, homework isn't only wasting the student's time but the teachers time as well. By marking and grading homework, teachers are wasting their time. So teachers, please don't blame us the we wasted your time. Some people assume that homework is useful for teachers to watch student's progress but I firmly believe that homework is sent home to test the parents, not the children. I think that teachers can watch the student's progress in school better because teachers don't know that at home who did the homework, the parent, the student or the internet (Google)??????? People also think that homework helps parents to understand that the school holds high goals for students. But, I consider that school work is harder than homework and that means that parents can understand that the school holds higher goals than they think. Furthermore, homework becomes terrible if no one can help you. If no one can help you then you are doing work that you don’t understand, and if you don’t understand it what’s the point having the work that you can’t even do. I really, strongly believe that more kids would stay in school and have a better learning experience if they did not have the stress of homework.…
Some people say that homework is helpful for subject enhancement in students, however others may say homework is not very helpful and instead is a stressor for students. As a result, there is much debate on the topic of homework. Here at Culver City Middle School, there isn’t a homework policy, which leads to either too little homework or too much homework. This is a real problem since students are trying to advance and understand subjects. A new policy, should be created where there is need for meaningful homework as it will benefit many students in several ways.…
Since Roberto Nevilis introduced it to the world as a punishment in 1905, there have been many arguments to whether or not homework should be required. What initially started as punishment for kids who messed around in class has become a mandatory task that all students are required to do daily. I’m here to end that, I intend to show you that students should not be required to complete homework for a grade. Homework consumes too much time and leaves no space for extracurricular activities and causes health problems. On top of that, many students don’t even have the resources required to complete the homework. Despite these things, homework is still a graded assignment that if failed to complete, can drastically bring down a student's grade.…
What can teachers do to prevent students from having too much homework? What type of planning is required? Are there implications for staff planning time? The first step teachers can take to not giving students too much homework is making sure that the homework is a review of earlier lessons. “Homework gives students a chance to practice skills learned in one setting at one time(school) in another setting at a different time(home) (Slavin pg.201). The second step teachers can take is too make homework interesting and worthwhile. Even though homework can help students little bit, it can still be harmful to the students. Stress can cause students to lose control under pressure. Needless to say, homework can cause students to lose interest in learning and may encourage students to cheat or drop out of school early. The type of planning required for this is your students learning styles, knowing where the student is academically, finding ways to make homework fun and rewarding, and actively engaging the parents and other family and friends in the homework activities when possible. Yes, technology can contribute to meaningful learning students can learn various ways to present, research, and explore their various subjects. It is possible to have the phases of learning within one class setting, and this desirable because has a teacher looks around her room she will find various learning styles, and being able to approach students styles and needs in various ways helps the teachers be an intentional teacher with a diversifying…
To begin with, homework is taking way family time and fun time from students. Because students get a lot of homework they no longer have time to spend time with their family or have their own free time. For instance, in the article titled “5 Reasons Why Homework is Bad for Your Child,” the author states, “Children need time to spend with their family, catch up with friends and attend extracurricular activities so they can refresh their minds and bodies.” The reasons that are stated in the article specifically, are examples of how homework takes away family time. School is supposed to only take up to 6 hours but with homework it no longer take 6 hours of school work but more. Therefore, students don’t have enough time to do there own things.…
Homework has been around for as long as there have been tax paying schools. The first person to create homework was Robert Nevilis from Italy in 1905 (Roberto). Over the years that homework has been around, people have gotten different impressions and opinions on the topic. Most students believe it is way too much and unnecessary. Teachers believe that homework is very useful and beneficial for the students. While other faculty members believe it is a waste of time. Teachers and students are not the only ones with mixed emotions on this topic (NEA). Parents can also relate. Homework should be reduced because it can interfere with family time and cause tension, it can cause health problems and…
Too much homework for a student can cause stress and lead to health issues in the body and mind. Homework can be related to anxiety and stress that can affect school work negatively. Also spending a heck of times doing homework is not worth. It may help you with to improve your learning and achieve more. In my opinion, kids should not have too much homework because kids are just kids, all they probably want is to relax and have fun.…
Kids should have less homework because they are using all of their time at home doing homework instead of doing something productive. The average student gets around 75% of homework each day. In class you do lots of non-stop work. Then you go home and do the same thing for 5 days. All that work could easily put you under pressure which makes you do your homework all wrong and you don't notice until you get to school. All that pressure could also fail you on a test. When you're trying to do your homework you're also studying for a test.…
I feel that schools should not give out homework. Homework stresses kids out for starters. Students also dread doing homework, and people don't have time for it. This is why we should get rid of homework.…
Students should only be given limited amounts of homework per day. Have you ever fallen asleep in school because you were up so late doing homework? I know I have before. Sometimes teachers will give enormous amounts of homework. There should be limited homework for multiple reasons. There should only be a limited amount of homework because too much homework can cause stress on some people. Also, students that get a lot of homework might have to stay up late because they either had work after school or an afterschool activity. Teachers do not realize that even though their class is important it is not the only class students have, we have five other classes to study for. The average percentage of stress for high school students is 32.7%.…
Homework has been given to students because teachers believe it helps them remember what they learn at school, and helps them learn the material better. "Homework is super helpful in learning and processing the material learned in class." Said no kid ever. Too much homework is not helpful, and can be unhealthy. Excessive amounts of time spent on homework can take away from kids social lives, family time, and sports or other activities. Homework should be outlawed. Critically acclaimed author Tami Ansary says, that since 1981, the amount of homework given to sixth graders has increased by more than fifty percent. In 1957, the Russians launched Sputnik into outer space. The new competition made schools try to increase the difficulty of the curriculum. With harder classes came more homework. Homework takes away from time that kids could be spending with their families. Rather than spending time bonding and building strong family relationships, parents and children argue over homework. Time is taken away from important elements of daily life. This time is particularly precious in families with two working parents whose time with their children is limited. This time could be better spent going out to dinner, or doing other activities that most families are not able to do because the kids have too much homework. My opposition might say that lots of homework prepares them for the "real world" and lots of homework helps them learn the material better. When difficult work assignments are given frequently, it causes students to lose interest in the subject. Negative results can also occur when someone is not able to finish his homework. Usually they will resort to copying homework, having others do their assignments, or cheating on tests. Bad habits like these are likely to follow them through their lives. With no consequences to these actions students will almost always take the easy way out when it comes to homework. The use of homework is effective when used by the…
Students learn differently and most people, by the time they reach high school have a system that works. Any teacher, no matter how good, cannot make something that works for every single student. While homework helps some people learn, for most people it is just something they have to do once they learn how to do it and still have to study after doing the required homework anyway. Homework is beneficial but there are other ways to learn that are more effective and take less…
