Should College Athletes Get Paid
College athletes who play sports are working hard to get to the next level, they are putting their bodies on the line and some people say they should get payed but they are already receiving benefits from their college.

Most college athletes are working so hard they are putting their mental and physical health in danger. They put their bodies on the line every game but, should they get paid? Many of them are already receiving scholarships. But only about two percent of high school athletes receive scholarships. They are already receiving and education. So why would they pay the colleges and the colleges pretty much pay them right back if they pay them.

If college athletes get paid it could potentially take away from the purity of the game. Some of the college athletes aren’t as smart so somebody could bribe them to potentially throw a game. And if they get paid they might not play a hard as they could because they might not want to get hurt or injured. Also because they are getting paid. And if they do get paid they might think they don't have to really try at all and they could make a stupid mistake with their money.

Football is the biggest sport in the US and colleges make a lot of money off of the games. But some like say tennis or track don't make nearly as much money as other spots such as football. College athletes could get spoiled from getting paid and just give up on the game. If college athletes did get paid I could give them a sense of financial awareness and help get ready for the rest of their life. These college students put their bodies on the line each game and they bring a lot money. College students should not get paid because they are receiving benefits or an education. It could ruin the purity of the game and not all college sports bring a lot of

In recent years the topic of college football players being paid has been widely discussed, but in reality the fact that this is even a discussion is just ridiculous. College football isn't a job, it is an extracurricular activity students can take part in while in college. Behind this common idea is college football players already are being seen as more privileged and that is not fair to other students and paying college football players will increase that perception. Also if the college football players were paid there must be an organized plan in terms of the pay structure it would it be fairly determined in terms of how to pay the football players and seeing if certain players get paid more than others. Most importantly is the immaturity…

The side I agree with is pros, which means yes college athletes should get paid. I think this because they should get the money the need. I say this because college athletes will have to do two things, And it may come to having to leave your sport activity early or quitting the job, And do you really want to do any of those? Also because they maybe have a family to take care of and they can't do it without money right? Maybe even have a family member that's hurt/ dieing/ or even dead. And you have to go to the funeral or go help them and see if they're doing ok.…

If colleges were to pay athletes there would be no fair way to distribute the money. Athletes perform their sport at different levels of ability and for various lengths of time. In addition, not every player is able to compete in a game. Problems would arise about the athlete not playing which would not allow for him/her to receive the money they deserve. The first issue about this problem is that some people believe that athletes should be paid based on an open market system. This idea of an open market system would allow for supply and demand to come into play. In addition, a school would be able to pay their scouted athlete based on the money that comes in because of their ability. However, The payment would vary depending on the market along with the deals that each athlete has with the school. The second issue is about the colleges because not every college can afford the players they want to recruit. In 2013 the NCAA had an investigation on the economic stability of Division 1 sport programs. This study showed that out of 288 Division 1 schools only 23 were running their programs in a profitable way. This means that only those 23 schools had the money to pay a college athlete. In our society, any business not profiting from anything is likely not hiring, and there is no idea…

In the article that I read I would have to agree with the author. College players should be paid, just because some of them get free education don’t mean that they shouldn’t get paid. College players are just like professional players there’s really no difference now. College athletes bring in more money than the professionals.…

Maybe college athletes should get paid because they half to work really hard to get on the college teams and leagues. The players play sports a lot as kids too get into college basketball, football, lacrosse, and college soccer. College players spend a lot of time practising and planning for all of their games and they even show more hustle than the players from the NBA. This already proves that they could and should get paid. College players need to get paid for what they do. When college players do not get paid, they do not get paid for the great things that they do on national TV. College players make more money for school playing their sport than people's salaries. Did you know that just if you make it to the NCAA BCS game, you get at least six million dollars. That's not even if you win. Sure student athletes get free things like free tuition, board, room fees, and food, but paying players would give them money for things like laundry, late night snacks, food for restaurants when on the road, and just different things. The three reasons why student athletes should get paid is because playing a college sport is like having a job, college players make money for…

Should student athletes get paid? This question has long been debated for quite some time in various institutions and organizations. With the upcoming focus on the NCAA, especially in our own division of the Big East, the question on how players should be compensated is brought up. It is no secret that student athletes are compensated in various ways, whether it is through scholarships or complimentary housing, but questions of paying the student athletes a surplus in addition to tuition costs has been raised. This idea seems appealing to private universities with generous funding because it allows them to attract the top players to their school. I believe that student athletes should not be paid any additional money than that which covers their tuition costs.…

Some people argue that college sports are more entertaining because they are playing solely for the love of the game, and that when they reach professional level and start getting paid that they don't play as hard. But if we were to pay them during college it would create financial awareness and I think that James Douglas' idea is what we should do. he said "Even if the NCAA or the universities paid the students a stipend and put it in a trust fund to be accessed upon graduation it might make a small difference in teaching young people how to handle money." (Listland). Even if they aren't getting paid thousands of dollars it would still…

So some reasons I think that college athletes should be paid are that some college athletes are unhappy with the title unfairly placed on them: amateur. College athletes should be treated as professional athletes. Their games are on T.V., and so are the professional ones. If the NCAA wanted college athletes to be considered as “amateurs”, they shouldn’t have the games that the athletes play on television. Now anybody can see them, and maybe even mistake them for professionals! I bet a lot of people would agree with me.…
