patient is 82yrs old female weight 200lbs and height 62inches. Patient’s admitting diagnosed are hypertension, glaucoma, osteoporosis, insomnia and anxiety.
For hypertension patient taking carvedilol tab 3.125mg by mouth every two hours is beta blocker. Beta blocker affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Coreg is used to treat heart failure and hypertension (high blood pressure). It is also used after a heart attack that has caused your heart not to pump as well. Usual adult dose for hypertension is 6.25 mg orally twice a day with food and maximum dose 50mg per day. It is the most common reason for a broken bone among the elderly. Bones that commonly break include the back bones, the bones of the forearm, and the hip. Until a broken bone occurs there are typically no symptoms. Bones may weaken to such a degree that a break may occur with minor stress or spontaneously. She is taking bisphosphonates (alprazolam)10mg one time orally daily. Bisphosphonates all work by moving blood calcium into the bone, binding to calcium in the bone, and preventing osteoclasts from destroying bone cells and resorbing calcium. It also inhibits the activity of tumor necrosis factor within bone, preventing certain white blood cells from damaging or destroying bone. There are some side effects for bisphosphonates, common side effects includes pain, headache, esophageal reflux, and nausea and most serious adverse effects of the bisphosphonates is the development of jawbone necrosis, especially with tooth extraction or other invasive dental procedure involving the jawbone in which the bone is damaged. The exact mechanism through which these drugs cause osteoporosis is not known but it is thought to occur because the drugs interfere with bone …show more content…
It can occur without a cause and may not be based on a real-life situation. Symptoms of anxiety very with the form of anxiety disorder. Common anxiety disorders include panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorders, phobic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Benzodiazepines is used to treat anxiety and the right dose for adult is 0.25-0.5 mg orally every 8-12 hours. Intended responses of this drug anxiety is relieved without too much sedation, sense of well-being is improved. There are some common side effects of the benzodiazepines includes sleepiness, depression, lethargy, apathy, memory impairment, headache and slurred speech and additional common side effects includes nervousness, irritability, blood pressure, changes in bowel function and skin rashes. Adverse effects of the benzodiazepines are seizures and coma and can result in hallucinations and heart
