SERVANT GIRL and How did my brother leon brought his wife?
SUMMARY
1. This is a story of a humble good-looking house helper named Rosa and her adult infatuation. Rosa is portrayed as a physically and verbally abused servant girl to an obnoxious but at times kind mistress. Rosa fantasized about the cochero whom she named to be "Angel" who later-on known to be as Pedro. She imagined him as different from other men, more gallant, gentler, and her rescuer from her miserable life with her mistress. Angel became Rosa's hope and embodiment of desire to be free from servitude. Her admirer Sancho on the other hand was rough and rude towards her and violently hurt her. She ran from her mistress' house and Sancho's boorish arms. She longed to find her "Angel". But her savior does not really exist. Angel was just a figure that she invented. In the end, Rosa just accepts her fortune as a miserable servant. Instead, the man she believed to be her rescuer, was the one who returned her back to her pitiful life.
2. Baldo was the one who narrated the story. He was the younger brother of Leon. He was an obedient, innocent and naive young boy. Leon was the one who brought home a wife. He was a responsible, gentle and a loving husband. Maria had been born and grew up in a big city. She was the pretty wife of Leon. She was a supportive, creative and a loving wife. Father was the one who instructed Baldo on what he will do while he is on the road together with Leon and Maria. He made an ingenious way to find out if Maria is really worthy to live in a rural place.
Labang - the bull that Baldo considers as his “pet in the story, Leon arrived with his wife, Maria in the rural meeting Leon's brother, Baldo for the first time. They took a surprising route home for Leon, but it was meant as a test for the wife to see if she could endure the sacrifices she made and meet her new family. The entire story serves as a test for the wife. Each test was to show whether the woman could indeed live with strangers all for love in which the main characters learn that though there are sacrifices it is worth it in the end. He even begins to think about getting himself a wife eventually. This helps to show the story and how it developed. He notices through all the tests the woman though afraid will preserve through the trials in order to be happy with Leon at his home. The fact that the rural is different from the city can be somewhat discouraging the closer they get to the home, but Maria still manages to overcome any trials. The wife admits to having some fear, but also shows clearly it did not stop her.

1. The short story entitled Servant Girl is a nice story. It really touched its reader’s hearts. It is about a girl named Rosa, who works for a mistress, who has a spell of bad humor but generous at times. She had worked as a servant all her life; from places to places, usually takes her more about four months of service. But this time it was different. She had stayed with the mistress for over a year now. Everyday, she does her daily routine, wash the clothes, get drinking water, and sometimes when her mistress is drunk, forces her to eat or she'll starve to death. From this story, I realized that there are a lot of choices that we need to make in life.
2. The story shows uniqueness because it has its own moral value that readers may follow it. The author is very good in making techniques in writing that can make readers be more interested in the story. The story did explain some ways on what is the meaning of true love and how this true love can be shown. It really touched its reader’s hearts
