Community Environmental Issue

The issue is that there is a big cancer risk in San Bernardino County. The toxic air pollutants or air toxics are those pollutants known or suspected of causing cancer or other serious health problems. The pollutant formaldehyde is 53.24 and the Ben Zane is 14.20, and the Acetaldehyde is at 6.53.
This is an environmental sustainability issue because; the infant mortality rate in the U. S cities was 7.4 deaths per 1,000 live births. Between 1990-2004 the infant mortality rate incites has declined by nearly one-third while the nationwide decline during the same period was 25.3 percent.
It affects the people who live in the community. The mortality rate has gone up, and the cancer rate in San Bernardino County has also gone up. And it has also affected the birth weight of children. In 2004 low birth weight in San Bernardino County was 66.46.

Air pollution can also be hazardous to the people living around the watershed because the longer they inhale the contaminants, the bigger effect it will have on their health. For example, if someone suffers from asthma, they will have a harder time breathing because the contaminants will aggravate their lungs. It can lead to future health problems even for a healthy person and it will eventually kill them as…

The infant Mortality rate is somewhat useful as an indicator of development. Infant mortality rate is measured as the number of children who die before the age of 1 per 1,000 live births per year. This age group is incredibly venerable and Reilly on others for their survival and therefore high rates can indicate low standard of living with poor hygiene, anti natal and post natal care, vaccinations and specialist medical…

When questioning whether or not we are a species in decline, one has but to look at two different numbers. One of those numbers is birthrates, or the number of live births in a given area. For this paper I will concentrate on the United States primarily to provide a more centralized view. The other number you can look at is the mortality rate, or number of deaths in that same area. From these two numbers one can glean much knowledge about the state of human population growth or decline. Looking at a high birth rate and a low death rate could signal a growth in a population, while the opposite could signal a decline.…

I grew up in Bakersfield, California in the 1990s. I never really thought about pollution, or the industrial facility that flanked my elementary school, but I was always sick, always coughing and stuffy. Later in life I went back to that old school and found that there was an oil tank farm, behind a fence, right next to the playground. While I have no scientific proof that this was causing my sickness, it is probably a bad idea to put such facilities in close proximity to children, or any residential area. During the course of this research I used a website (USA Today) to look up my old school and found that the chemical most responsible for toxicity around my old school was sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid is used in the production of fertilizer, which makes sense because the San Joaquin Valley is the states top agricultural producing region, sometimes called the “nations salad bowl.” Sulfuric acid can cause respiration problems, and irritation. Long-term exposure causes cancer.…
