Essay on School-Community Partnership
No man is an island. This is one of the key factors towards a successful organization. Education paves a way to a progressive nation.The goal of a quality education is to develop the full capacities of the learners and to support the unfolding of individual potential. The school is a place where formal learning is being taken place.Every school has room to improve, has reason to reform, and has imperative to change. There are lots of interventions made in order to achieve educational goals of every learning institution. We are now accelerating the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM), a key component of Basic Education Reform Agenda or BESRA. With SBM, the school as key provider of education, will empower its key officials to make informed and localized decisions based on their unique needs toward improving our educational system.
A school-community partnership provides opportunities for community members to support the improvement of student learning. Their role is crucial in transforming the schools into a safe and conducive learning environment. The involvement of division and district leaders, school heads, teachers, students, parents, local elected officials, public and private agencies, youth development organizations, community development groups, and business, civic and religious organizations will ensure the success of plans and activities. As, stakeholders, they will able to work together and share the vision and accountability for students’ learning outcomes. The policies and programs on school-community partnership and school governance enable the schools to continuously perform better depends mainly on the ability of the schools to tap and use resources effectively and efficiently. Guided by the principles of School-Based Management, the schools in collaboration with stakeholders shall (1) develop interventions to improve teaching processes, and draw greater support from parents, LGU and community organizations; (2) undertake self-evaluation to formulate their own improvement plans and determine resources needed to improve teaching-learning processes; and (3) continue to reengineer systems and procedures to increase their efficiency, e.g., procurement of goods and services, financial management, payroll services, management information system and teacher welfare.
As stakeholders, they need to be part of every school’s activity. The harmonious way relationship goes hand and hand and not leaving anyone behind.
