time making money. This argument might seem effective by people don’t want to live like that in the future and want a change. This argument could be changed by not making a huge story about his family’s struggles and just say his views on jobs.
John says when he was growing up jobs were growing, wages were up, families were stronger, and people are more optimistic all because the economy was growing. He says that when there are jobs our families are stronger, our kids are more secure and our neighborhoods are better and that’s what we need to focus on. John is using the red herring fallacy because even if the economy is doing good doesn’t mean our neighborhoods are better and families are stronger. There are other factors that make those things happen and support it. This argument might seem effective because a lot of people do believe that if our economy is doing well then everything around us is doing well also. This argument can be changed to make it more valid by not saying just because the economy is doing well, our families and stronger and so are our neighborhood. John could say that when our economy was doing well and other factors, some neighborhoods were becoming more safe and kids were becoming more secure from their families.
