Rhetorical Analysis Of Obama Speech
The American Voice

My paper is about how many people have their own opinions about what being an American is. To complete my research I looked at various articles and videos to really see what everyone thinks. The American voice to me is that we should be able to have freedom and we should have many opportunities to do what we want. In my opinion, I believe that Barack Obama is the best representation of America because he seems like he really cares about even the future of America. Being in American to me means that we have rights to be what we want to be. No other place has what America has, and that is life, liberty and equality. In my paper I will be talking about how different people view the way America, or what is to be American to

The setting of the speech was at the Virginia Convention on March 23, 1775. The intended audience for this speech are the members attending this Convention and for members who Patrick wants to speak to. The purpose of this speech in my opinion is to inform others to not be afraid to fight for what they want, and in this case it is freedom. As his big quote states, “Give me liberty or give me death”, Patrick asks to fight for rights on liberties. After reading this speech the author, Patrick Henry, discusses the issue of not being able to have freedom or liberty to do things. In this speech, the tone sounds like the author was angry because he used many exclamation points in which shows that he was most likely speaking …show more content…
The narrator of the text I speak of is William K. Zinsser. This man discusses how in America, we have a right that is supposed to be known, but isn’t so much, and that is the right to fail. This article is called, “The Right to Fail.” I do not know exactly the time exactly when this article came to be, but my guess is that this text came out when everyone did not believe in failure. In my opinion, the audience intended for this article is for all the people. I believe he wants to show not just some people, but many people from everywhere, that it is more than ok to fail some time in your life. The main idea of this piece is to let everyone know that failing is a part of being a human. I say this because in the text Zinnser says, “Success can be dangerous, you feel you know it all.” And like he says, success can be dangerous because you will not only hurt yourself, but others as well because you think you will never be wrong. The tone that he shows is pride in telling people to go ahead and fail, Because when you fail, you’ll get back up, know what to do, and succeed

On June 16th at his very own Trump Tower in New York City, Donald Trump announced that he would be running for president. It was only thirty seconds into his speech when Trump committed his first fallacy. In an attempt to insult the intelligence of his fellow GOP candidates, he compared their incompetence toward air conditioners to their supposed inability to beat ISIS. “They didn’t know the air-conditioner didn’t work,” “How are they going to beat ISIS?” This is a bad example fallacy due to his use of an example that fails to prove the conclusion and has little connection to it. Despite the complete lack of relation between Trump’s example and his conclusion, he was still able to provoke the audience into feelings of contempt toward the other…

His response was delivered in both English and Spanish and also mentions his immigrant roots in hopes of rallying support of the Latino voter which played such a crucial role in Obama’s re-election. His voice was strong and full of passion. He conveys his message by speaking of…

Trump is one of the more interesting presidents the United States has had in its two-hundred and forty-one years of existence. What makes Trump interesting is that he’s arguably one of the most unqualified presidents the United States has ever had due to him having no political experience, only business experience, prior to becoming the president. However, even though he’s arguably unqualified you wouldn’t notice it by the way Trump carries himself. When Trump gave his Inauguration speech he spoke and looked like a strong leader who was born to lead a country.…

Moreover, Barack Obama in a press conference reflecting on his first 100 days in office, was asked about his plans to address unemployment in the Black and Latino communities and his response was troubling, exhibiting a foreshadowing of what was to come, of those expecting radical changes, which would disappoint his most ardent supporters (p. 170). Obama responded by announcing that his focus was on bringing the economy back, after the disastrous legacy of George W. Bush, and using the strategy that that will help all people who will benefit by the positives of a strong economy (175). This set the tone for the entire Obama Presidency, the idea that the government will not specifically address issues that target Blacks but will advance programs…

Eleven days before Christmas a child is usually happy, energetic, excited, and anxious to see what kinds of pleasant gifts are underneath the tree from “Santa.” No one in Newtown, Connecticut had a clue that 20 of Sandy Hook Elementary School’s students and six adults wouldn’t be seeing that precious day. Unfortunately on this peaceful Friday, December 14th , 2012, Adam Lanza took their lives. His motive is unknown. As police arrived to the scene, Lanza committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. This was the second-deadliest shooting in US history, after the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007. This shooting really hurt the nation and they wanted answers.…

In his inaugural address, President Obama aims to unite and motivate the people of America, as well as the citizens of countries involved with the United States, to face the financial problems and exterior threats that plague the country. From the very first sentence, Obama attempts to lower himself from his powerful status by referring to the American people as “my fellow citizens” (Obama 1). Obama reminds his audience that he, like them, is a human being and a proud citizen of the United States. This works to unite the American people with their president on common ground so that they are ready to take on America’s economic and exterior challenges as a strong and unified country. Obama again unites himself with the common americans and reminds…

Like most Americans my age, I can vividly remember the morning America was attacked on September 11, 2001. I can still piece together the disturbing television images, the terrified look on my teacher’s face as she told the class what had happened, and the memory of seeing my father cry for the first time. I remember watching George Bush’s speech following the attacks with my family, but I was too young to truly understand it at the time. When I recently read and watched the speech, I was reminded just how powerful and emotional his speech actually was.…

In March of 2008, in Philadelphia at the Constitution Center, Presidential candidate Barack Obama addressed the nation concerning racial divide, creating unity between all people, and the effect it has on the upcoming presidential election. He brought attention to accusations made regarding Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor from his church in Chicago, Illinois. In his speech, he focuses on the idea that we as society can not dwell on how others feel because of their upbringing, and reminds us to worry about the more current and relevant issues. Obama uses several different rhetorical strategies in order to convey the central message of his speech. The speech is directed towards undecided voters and the majority that form the union. The recurring triggers that influenced this speech and made it increasingly urgent were the emerging problems of racial discrimination and the upcoming Presidential Election in November. Essentially, the purpose of this speech was to persuade people to focus on content, not color and develop a better understanding about how and why the reverend feels the way that he does.…
