Report of the Event: Computer Exhibition BalticIT&T 2001. The event was annual exhibition of information technologies and is considered to be one of the most respectable occasions in the field in Baltic States. It took place from 04.04.2001 till 07.04.2001 in the most popular place for large-scale exhibitions in Riga – Kipsalas Exposition Hall. The aim of the event is to support and popularize the information technology and give the opportunity of business presentations on more or less equal grounds to the main mass of entrepreneurs in the field.
Attendance has always been brisk, largely because the status of the event – it is considered by the majority of information related businesses to be the central event of the year. So the attendance is required if only for the sake of appearances.
The building itself is especially designed for vast events such as this, so it gives the impression of grand splendor at least. The huge crowds are just lost inside. The main area is dotted with booths and stands of presenting companies. The main impression is that of oversized hive.

In closing. I enjoyed this panel of speakers. Each speaker was well- rounded in their field and had a lot of incredible points to make. I feel that each speaker could have incorporated more photos or videos to show the hands - on type of work they do. This event felt a little rushed, therefore, I would recommend extending the timing of this…

As soon as I entered the theatre, it was completely packed. I also saw many people from different age groups; this gave me a feeling that the show would be entertaining enough to get people from all ages to come and see the show. The environment of the theatre was very formal, as there was a red and gold layout and it was also very clean.…

I thought the seminar was very interesting I was able to reach my goal by asking meaningful questions at the same time there was a lot of idea i wasn’t able to share with the group due the limited amount of time we had. I also learned a lot from others so i was almost able to picture myself in the shoes of a jew who was barely struggling to live and their life. Although i wasn't able to express some of my ideas i was very satisfied when i was able to learn from ideas from others had to share.…

It made me excited for the presenters that they had such an attentive audience, and made the vibe of the entire conference that much more comforting. I was a little disappointed at how little some of the presenters explained their topics; they were only given 20 minutes, which might have had something to do with it, but it would have been helpful to outsiders to explain their topics in depth, so that you didn’t need to be a music graduate student to understand the papers. Overall, I would like to choose different topics to attend if I were to attend this again. One topic that stood out to me was Steven Moon’s Listening Elsewhere: Enacting Affective Exodus in Gay Azerbaijan and if I had gotten their earlier I would have loved to attend that presentation. One thing attending this conference has inspired me to do is to attend more lectures on music and sound studies if they are offered in the Twin Cities…

The Don and Ada Rice Wing, Folk Art and Furniture were an unusual surprise. It was not at all what I had expected. Everything is displayed like you are in a classy antique furniture store. All the furniture is place on stage like settings and should not be touched. I felt like I was in my grandmother’s house. It was cool because it was really unlike to expected norm. The paperweight collection was like something out of a collector’s book. It had absolutely everything you could think of. From bug weights to beads to actual flowers. It just showed me what art could be like even if you use the sample things around…
