Recycling
Topic: Recycling
General Purpose: To Persuade
Specific Purpose: To persuade my class to Recycle
Intro: Imagine a whole forest being cut down just to store our garbage. This can be stopped if we recycle. Deforestation is a major issue today. This is because man is using natural resources to fulfill his needs. The increase of these demands has led to increasing levels of destruction of our natural resources. These resources being limited, a day would probably arrive when we don't really have anything to turn towards. Think about all the trees that are being axed in the forests today. Our habits of wasting paper could be one of the million reasons that contribute towards such problems. Through research that I have done I found that we can reduce the amount of garbage by recycling. In the next few minutes I would like to talk about the why recycling is important, tips on how to recycle, and the benefits of recycling. We need to start becoming aware of our responsibilities and take the next step towards saving your planet.
Transition: First, I would like to tell you about why recycling is important.
1) Why recycling is important (the problem) Knowing the importance of recycling should be a must for everybody today. Our every little activity would either help the environment or even destroy it gradually. Being aware of our responsibilities is a step towards saving our planet. Recycling would also reduce the levels of pollution; we would have clean air to breathe.

It seems that every time one turns on the television they hear about something dealing with the environment, from global warming to pollution. It is a constant a reminder that what people do has a consequence to our planet. While some people do recycle, not enough is being done. We need to have more people recycle to have a better effect to the planet. This is why government needs to have mandatory recycling to not only better the earth, but to lessen our need for natural resources, reduce the amount of actual “trash” we put in landfill, and to help our economy by the creation of new jobs through the recycling project.…

Almost everything used in today’s society is manufactured from plastic (i.e. water/ shampoo/ mouthwash bottles, food containers, furniture, technology, etc.). Due to this, not recycling plastic can lead to many problems in our environment. Recycling plastic promotes the conservation of energy and natural resources. It also contributes to the decrease of water and air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. To add, recycling plastic can save landfill space, or structure…

Recycling and waste prevention are two very important ways to help address the issues of the environment concerning climate change. Recycling is a very beneficial factor that more individuals need to exercise in order to improve the environment’s pollution, reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, and save energy and natural resources that are used to produce products from virgin materials rather than from recycled materials, which uses less energy and produces less harmful pollution. Recycling has many benefits that helps improve the earth’s conditions. Waste prevention and recycling are real ways to address these problems and begin to make a change. Recycling turns materials that would otherwise become waste into valuable resources, reducing the amount of natural resources needed to produce these same products. Collecting your used bottles, cans, and newspapers and taking them to a recycling bin or collection facility is just the first step, in a series of steps that generates a host of financial, environmental, and social returns. These benefits accrue locally as well as globally. Recycling protects and expands United States manufacturing jobs and increases United States competitiveness by creating more recycling jobs and facilities within the United States and producing more of our own products with recycled materials and being less dependent on outside countries and companies for these products. Recycling prevents pollution caused by the manufacturing of products from virgin materials.…

Recycling has been a well known idea for so many years, but now we need it more than ever. Now in the world there are so many problems with the environment like Global Warming, toxic waste, and not to mention not recycling is very costly but recycling reduces the landfill space, helps conserves natural resources, and reduces the production of greenhouse gases . When you recycle you also help save animals so the rims of a six pack of soda doesn’t end up blocking a fish's gills or a plastic bag getting eaten by a turtle and having it choke on the bag. Recycling can also be a group effort where you get a group of people from your community, school, church, job, or just you and your friends so not only your saving the environment but your having fun with people you know while doing it.…

Additionally, another reason why we should recycle is it lessens deforestation. Deforestation is a big problem. It’s the destruction of forests, while in the process of making it into another space for something else. While continuing to make products from wood. This kind of deed leaves our animals and planet in danger. Deforestation not only destroys the habitats of our animals, but it also pollutes out atmosphere. With recycling, we fix this problem by reusing products and waste to make new items. Leaving the forests out of the process.…

The earth, as we know it, is slowly becoming a landfill. Mountains of garbage are accumulating everywhere. Garbage is accumulating not only on land but in the ocean as well. If this continues the earth itself will become a giant landfill. The air will become greatly polluted as well as the water. These unhealthy habits must change. One healthy way to reduce the large amount of garbage on earth is to recycle. Although it may be easier to just throw a bottle or soda can into a trash, as many lazy Americans do, recycling those items can be very beneficial. What everyone knows but refuses to address is that recycling is a healthy habit, not just for us but for the world. One reason that many people don’t recycle is because their neighborhoods don’t offer it. Many Americans would also rather just throw their recyclable items in the trash because they are too lazy to take it to a recycling bin. Recycling can create many jobs and in time improve the economy. Recycling can also save natural resources, save energy, reduce pollution and conserve landfill space. In order to save the earth, the world needs to recycle more. It should be mandatory that every community in the world has an area for recycles. Garbage companies could even hire people to go through garbage and pick out the recyclable items.…
