R & B Biography

Rhythm and blues which s also known as R&B is a genre of popular African American music that originated in the 1940’s. Georgia’s artist such as Ray Charles, Little Richard and James Brown ranked among the most influential and innovative R&B performers. The term R&B was coined as a musical marketing term in the United State in 1949 by Jerry Wexler at Billboard magazine which was then replaced with “race music.” The Grammy award for best R&B song has been awarded since 1969. From 1969 to 2000 it was known as the Grammy award for best Rhythm and Blues song. The Grammy is rewarded to the songwriters of the winning song not the performing artist.

I fell in love with the song the first day I heard it, and when it was nominated for the Grammy’s my fingers were crossed. I am a fan of Tyrese, although I love the song ‘Shame” but first time I heard it I was not that into the song compared from the Tyrese back in the days. It took me a while before I could like the song. Jazmine Suilivan, no!! I don’t like her songs, I compare her with Melanie Fiona, they mostly sing sad songs about break up, so I am still wondering why she was nominated for a Grammy because “let it burn” had nothing special about it. I mostly listen to R&B songs from the 8o’s 90’s and early 2000’s, and D’angelo started his career in the early 90’s but I have never listened to his song from start to finish. I always skip.
