1.2 Duty of care contributes to safeguarding or protection of individuals in many ways. It can contribute to my safeguarding and protection because the company I work for has a duty of care to me, they must provide me with advice and support when needed, keep me updated with policies, procedures and any new developments. Also provide me with up to date and suitable training. All this will result in me being able to perform and provide the best care possible for the children in placement, which in turn ensures the safeguarding and protection of the children and myself.
2.1 Potential conflicts or dilemmas can arise between duty of care and an individual’s rights when maybe the individual is considered not capable or has not got enough understanding to make a safe decision or where the individual wants to do something or go somewhere that your duty of care does not allow . Another example is an individual not wanting to take their medication, it is my duty of care to ensure they take their medication but also my duty of care to respect the individuals rights, in this situation I would encourage and advise the individual to take medication and provide an explanation why they should take it but also force them, give them a bit of time and offer medication again later, in the case of them not
