Prior to this course and reading the chapter. I would say that I was able to multi-task in some ways, but at times I would not be able to, especially if situation was too chaotic. Now, as far as thinking that I was good at multitasking, I would say that there were times I was fairly decent at it, especially the time that I was a supervisor in charge of digitizing, embroidery and managing all the functions of the job, including the employees. I felt that I was more alert during the time. Now, when it comes to studying I need to have complete and utter silence so I can focus on the material.
My thoughts on multitasking is that it’s not easy. I feel that you have to train yourself to become a descent multi-tasker. While driving, I would be seeing eating and talking on the cell phone, now in the case of studying, as I mentioned earlier I would need complete silence. The slightest noise would distract me, for instance, at the moment my fiancé is studying to be a pharmacy technician and I can hear her typing away at her keyboard, on the computer which is a huge distraction for me. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to rewrite this paragraph.
I have to say I enjoyed the test. My analysis was that it was much easier concentrating, without any distractions, which for this test would have been the music. I found myself grasping the material easier and quicker than trying to read, while the music was playing. I also found myself singing along with the music, in my head, instead of concentrating on the readings.
