I began skiing in Tahoe before I could even walk and it has developed as an instinctive skill of mine. Skiing is both my favorite sport and hobby and keeps me busy from November to May. The ski resorts that I enjoy going to are Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. I like skiing at Squaw because there is plenty of challenging terrain as well as 4,000 skiable acres. My favorite of the two, however, is Alpine Meadows. Alpine offers plenty of large bowls filled with knee deep powder and fun tree skiing, but the best part is that there are fewer crowds. Unfortunately, over the years Alpine and Squaw have become more crowded with rude beer drinking pigs that you would expect to find at a Niners game. It has begun to feel like you aren’t welcome, especially with the corrupt money driven management for Squaw and Alpine. Even with its flaws, the many memories of those sick powder days with fresh tracks and cliffs to drop off always brings me back to this place. Again, this place has some of the best views in the world along with world class skiing and riding with some of the steepest runs. A fond memory of mine is one morning after a snowstorm where I got up early to ski hiked up to the top of the Palisades at Squaw. The views were spectacular…

Skiing has always been a huge part of my life and I hope to share it with as many people as I can. There are five categories that skiers usually fall into. The first type of skier is a backcountry skier. This type of skiing is when you only ski in the “backcountry”, which means any unmarked and unpatrolled areas either inside or outside a ski resort's boundaries.…

Your grip is referred to the placement of your hands on the club. Your grip enables you to be comfortable in holding the club and enables you to have your hands work together. Grab the club at the top of the grip, at the end of the shaft with your non-dominate hand. My dominate hand is my right so I would grab the club with my left hand. Place the shaft in the crease of your fingers and hands. The grip should cross the base of your last three fingers and the middle of your index finger on your left hand. Always make sure that your thumb is set on top of the grip, parallel with the shaft. The next part to complete the grip is placing your right hand on the grip. This part has many different varieties of how to place your right hand with your left. The most important thing when placing your right hand with your left, is to have them place as close together as possible. The best grip or way to place your right hand with your left, is interlocking grip. You place your right hand and fit it with your left hand that was placed in the beginning. You then interlock the left index finger with your right hand pinky.…

Nordic skiing has changed my life. When I was young I did not think I was capable of performing in such an intense sport. I felt myself being lifted on to the ski lift chair with the most excited feeling I have ever had. As the chair goes up I see this beautiful view of people coming down this huge hill with their big coats and these trees right ahead of them. This was my first time in Lake Tahoe and my first time skiing. I am in a sled-like ski chair called a bi-ski. It has two has two skis on the bottom, and two small skis attached to the side, which are kind of like training wheels.…
