the subordinates fail, but the effectiveness of the skill will suffer. From the Army White Paper this quote stuck out to me. “Professions produce uniquely expert work, not routine or repetitive work. Medicine, theology, law, and military are “social trustee” forms of professions. Effectiveness, rather than pure efficiency, is the key to the work of professionals-the sick want a cure, the sinner wants absolution, the accused want exoneration, and the defenseless seek security.” (CG TRADOC APPROVED, 8 December 2010)
While in the Army as a Human Resource Sergeant, there are many roles that we have to do to get the job done. Not only are we dealing with Soldiers personnel actions daily, we have our own Soldiers to take care of and mentor so that one day they can become a Sergeant. Mandatory training on weapons, Preventive Mechanics Service Checks (PMCS) on vehicles, daily physical training and ready to defend the American way of life at a moments notice.
Another key element is training, leading and mentoring Soldiers on being affective Human Resources Specialist. Human Resource is forever changing day to day. Teaching my Soldiers good research abilities is key in our field of work. Holding on to information and knowledge from your subordinates is very detrimental to your section and their future career. It will reflect on the leader and put a dent on future Sergeants in the Human Resource Field.
We as Human Resources Sergeant have to find balance to have a successful work environment to get the job done. I believe finding Balance in our personal life first will make problems at the work place seem minor. When you have a lot on your mind from home it will carry over to work and it becomes a stressful environment. Nothing will seem to be right and daily task will be harder then what it is. Not only will it bring stress upon the individual, but people that work in the section.
Another way to find balance in roles in Human Resource are between officers and enlisted. Everybody should know their job or help those who don’t know by sharing information to get the job done. An officer has to communicate to enlisted Soldiers to have a productive work flow. Without communication between officers and enlisted Soldiers it’s a dead work place. In conclusion being a Human Resources Sergeant in the Army is hard work. By following the Army Warrior Ethos, and living by the NCO Creed there is nothing that a Human Resources Sergeant cannot achieve.
