Physical Security Technology Selection

Introduction. Special Operations Security Solutions has developed a physical security plan at the request of a managing business partner. This Physical Security plan was developed for the safeguarding of information requiring protection in the interests of national security. It primarily pertains to classified national security information, now known as classified information, but also addresses controlled unclassified information, to include for official use only and sensitive but unclassified. The parameters provided are as follows. * 30,000 square foot facility in a rural area * Requirement for Secret and Confidential Materials * Approximately 60 employees, ranging from custodial to executive * Need for Secured Areas with line for secured communications (voice and data) * Will be operated from 7am to 6pm (EST)

CPTED Application
Crime Prevention through Environmental Design strategies that if applied to this facility would be most beneficial; are * Provide a clear border definition of controlled space- As this is a secure facility, boundaries must be clearly defined both internally and externally. Every increasing layer of security should be labeled and readily identifiable * Provide clearly marked transitional zones- This strategy is commonly used with the one above for the same reasons. * Redesign or revamp space to increase the perception of natural surveillance- In this rural area, visible cameras and the use of lighting increases the perception of surveillance.

Surveillance Surveillance is an important tool for security in its effort to protect assets. A combination of both security guards and surveillance cameras are often used to achieve maxium observation and effectiveness. Surveillance considerations for this facility are * Identify critical and high-risk areas * Camera and guard mix *
