The amount of benefits the military gets is amazing, so much that not everyone uses it all. The navy offers different perks such as a steady income, up to 30 days of leave a year, exploring the world, allowance for housing and food, tuition assistance for college, and even the GI Bill for after your service. Those are some of the most known perks that most sailors will use. The biggest benefit that I joined for is the GI bill that takes care of most financial needs for attending college after military service. You can get tuition assistance while you’re in the navy, but sometimes you don’t always have the luxury of free time as others. But that’s more of a goal for me, not really the reason. My grandfather was in the Air Force right after high school. My eldest brother joined the army after the events on September 11th and another brother shortly after. I joined after both of my brothers got out. One went to college online and the other went to a university out of town. Knowing some of the benefits I would get, I signed up for the job which sounded best to me. I ended up picking the first thing that had computers in the name.
