Personal Narrative: My Sophomore High School Football
That moment when your nerves are going crazy, mostly in his stomach as the butterflies scattered around the walls of his gut. When you don’t know if things will go how you expect them to. The whole time the only thoughts running through my mind were what can go wrong. Thoughts were bouncing in my head about his teammates going to war without him. I just can't understand why he had to let them handle it on their own. I've played with them since the eighth grade and they have to go fight when I'm needed the most, all I can do is sit, cheer, and help the best way I can. I truly hate the feeling of helplessness, but at the same time I know I have to do what little I can do. It was two days until the first game of my sophomore high school football season. My team was pumped! we were going to play Glenville a team that embarrassed us the previous, a battle we relentlessly prepared for since the last game of our freshman year. The sun was beaming off my pads, radiating the heat to make practice seem even worse then it already was. I was exhausted and looking forward to the end of my last sweat poring practice for the week. Our team was repetitively executing plays to make sure they were like second nature to us on Friday. Then, creating an unknown peace, Wheeler yells, "Last Play!" The …show more content…
"The doctor on call won't even look at him. He told me we would have to figure something else out. We are going to have to take him to the emergency room." The terrifying words, "Emergency Room" made my mind rush with thoughts like, "My season is over, my Sophomore year is ruined." "Let's try again!" I roared. I have always had a phobia of emergency rooms; nothing good ever comes from them. The coaches decided to yank my arm around one more time. Like a habit, I squeezed Coach Bates arm between my bicep and forearm like I was trying to pinch it

Good Evening Mr. Forrest, this is Sean Anderson. I wanted to send this report involving the girl's basketball coach from Northeast Middle School. Me and Jason Collins were the officials at West Creek Middle School vs Northeast Middle School. The games started at 4:45. During the second game, which was the girl's basketball game, my partner Jason Collins made a ruling against Northeast in the 4th quarter. The girl's head coach did not like the ruling and venting her frustrations toward us. She screamed" her player was not there for the foul". While I was administering the free throws I heard her screaming and gave her the stop sign signal and told her ok that's enough. I didn't administer no technical foul even though she continue…

Quite possibly the most significant time of my life was during my senior year as part of the Edison High School football team. The story of our 2006 season is a reflection of my life and testimony to my beliefs and values. Underdogs from day one, we represented not only our school, but also our community and families. Early expectations of the 2006 Eagles were low and the surrounding community was under the belief that Edison would be lucky to go 6-4 with the inexperienced players and the loss of such a talented senior class. Suddenly, I was starting as the outside linebacker/defensive end for the first time in my career along with 18 brand new starters. Unexpectedly, a green group of replacements were 5-0, half-way through our season. After…

I play quarter back for Pensacola Catholic High. To me football is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes you can get. The game is fast and I like that. When I play football I feel unstoppable and I love it. When you play quarterback the game is in your hands and it is up to you to lead your team to victory. You have to make sure your team is focused and prepared. You have to be a good leader to play quarterback. If your team starts loosing you can’t just act sad and give up. You have to do the right thing and give your team a pep talk and tell them to step up their game like a good leader would do.…

It was a really hot day. The scorching sun in the sky made it almost impossible to play. When we all got out the truck, we went to the field that we were supposed to play on. There was a game on the field. This meant that we got here early. Of course, most people would use that extra time to warm up. But for me, it was completely different. I sat on the bleachers. I was thinking deeply on my moves in order to bypass the defense. BEEP!!!!! The referee has blown the whistle to end the current game. The whistle snapped me out of what I was thinking. It was our turn to…

As we entered the last week of practice, I wanted relish what I thought would be the last few moments of the season. The varsity head coach was present at the last day of practice, and I was surprised when he pulled me aside during a drill. He told me that he had noticed my success during the season, and he wanted me to join the varsity team; for the varsity team still had two weeks of practice left before the state tournament. I held in my excitement and accepted his offer.…

It was the day that most freshmen dread, cuts day. There were many of us trying out for the JV baseball team- more people than there were positions. I could see it, I would be starting catcher on the JV baseball team. I had made it passed the first two weeks of tryouts and I was so confident that I was going to make it. I was at practice one Wednesday night of January the 11th, in the middle of a defensive drill In which I planted my foot and put all my weight on it ready to turn the ball handler. Then made a quick few steps then dropped to the hardwood I was in a world of hurt. I quickly grabbed at my leg grimacing with pain as my head laid back. I tried to hold back tears, after receiving help to sit down I could feel the cooling of ice on my leg, however, I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact part the pain was coming from. My dad had to come and pick me up and I could not put any weight whatsoever on my leg for literally three days. My mom took me to get an x-ray the next day, the doctor said: “Well the x-rays don't show anything let’s wait a while and if you still have any complications then we’ll schedule an MRI.” About a week and a half went by until I finally got the MRI it took about an hour and the machine kept giving off these strange loud noises it was weird. Then we had to wait for a few days to get the results, It was that Saturday at six o'clock that me and my brother and sister were at my grandma’s then my mom called asking to speak to me I picked up the phone not expecting what I was about to hear, “Cameron, the results came back and you have a completely torn ACL, you need to come home and get back on the crutches.” It felt like I just got shot, I was not expecting a torn…

When we were children, our mothers and fathers would take care of us, whatever we needed they found a way to get it. They were out support beams, our shoulders to cry on, and our correction officers when we were in the wrong. They were also the ones we ran to when we had our scars and bumps. We knew that they would give us the right things to make us feel better. When we get older we begin to make more risky decisions, and sometimes those become bad decisions, possibly ending in injury.…

It was the fourth quarter of thee first freshman game of the season and we were down by eight. One moment they were all playing next moment there was a player down. One of the hardest things is putting relationships after jobs. I choked on this for a little while, I got over it. Running out on to the field, I felt a breeze as I reached the injured player. Because of the fact that we were students, we could only do so much. This job was now…
