Personal Narrative: My Day Of High School Graduation
Do you remember the day of your high school graduation? When everyone stood outside in their caps and gowns, and the proud feeling filling in the air. I remember the day I graduated very well because it’s my favorite moment in my life. My favorite photo of my friend and I is framed next to my diploma that sits on my desk. Whenever I see that photo I’m reminded of the emotions I felt: happy, proud, and relaxed. Holding my diploma in my hand made my feel the happiest I’ve ever felt in a long time. I remember before the photo I was anxious to get my degree, and I didn’t think about the fact that my degree wouldn’t be in it’s folder when I walked across the stage. For a moment until we left the auditorium I thought I had failed, that I had

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

Walking into my honors English class my eleventh grade year, I felt as if it would be a breeze. Thinking back to the previous year to when I constantly maintained an “A+” and without hesitation I knew that any test, quiz, or writing prompt I was destined for an “A.” It was until now sobbing in a big puddle of salty water I knew for a fact I was doomed. Although I had never really thought into what karma was and what it really meant. It was my eleventh grade year in high school it had finally caught up to me.…

After graduating high school, people must decide to further their education or get a job. A job is a paid position of regular employment. I chose to get a job at my little cousin Makala’s daycare. I was beyond excited to start working and begin making my own money. However, working at the daycare with a schedule that changes daily and with very little pay offered quickly turned my excitement into disappointment.…

As I go along in my life, deciding what high school becomes very important to me. When I went to Presentation to shadow I saw that all of the students enjoyed being there. They were involved in school activities and took time in their classwork. Presentation High School has a very good reputation for preparing kids for college and beyond. It is an environment that I am familiar with and that I think would be well for me. My mom went there and I would like to follow in her footsteps. Also, I have swam at Swim South Bay for four years and hope to be part of the swim team at Pres. I would also like to attend Pres to continue my Catholic education. I was so happy that we had a five day weekend, this week. I don't know why I felt like this week went by slow. We got our first progress reports on Wednesday and I wasn't extremely happy with my grades. Upperclassmen would always tell us that senior year would be the most relaxed year of our four high school years, but honestly it does not seem like it. It's not that the subjects that are hard, its keeping up with every class and the assignments. The thing that i am stressed about is processing all the new information that we need in order to be prepared for college. I can totally relate going back to get a degree after so many years of being out of high school. I have a daughter in her last year of college and a son in middle school. There was never a good time to go back and I made a decision years ago that the kids were more important so I wouldn't go back. But last year I decided that I could now make the time to do it and started looking in to it, of course it took me about another year to actually take the plunge and enroll. Good…

It was my last day in Oklahoma City, at the Novice Championships. I had just finished my second to last class of my entire show. I was panicking before my last class, the one I’m the best at, the rookie horsemanship. While I was walking to the show arena, the intercom announced an hour-long lunch break between the next class and mine. This did not help my nerves, at all. So, I went back to my stall aisle and read my pattern again, the same way I did the day before.…

High School; which may be my biggest fear, but also could be my biggest accomplishment. Looking up I can see myself helping others and making their dreams come true, including mine. Getting into a right highschool would help me flourish, especially if it has a criteria to help kids to get more into the art Industry. Also I see my education growing and I will learn new things every day. If you listen to some people, they would say how I used to be fearful in school, how I, myself would be afraid to talk to people. That’s one of my many challenges I have accomplished, and it could help a lot with making new friends in High School. My dream is to become an actress, to make people smile. Not only just act, but to instruct…

The words “all girls education” bring a different image to each person’s mind. Some see a girl being reprimanded by a rigid, elderly woman, while others imagine side glances in the hallway and snarky comments on wardrobe choices. However, my experience was entirely my own, and was defined by laughter filled classrooms. Just like any other school, my high school involved shared experiences that affected each student distinctly. One of these shared experiences is the dreaded time spent in the cramped hallway for sophomore lockers dubbed “Reject Row.” Each grade that passes through makes it their own and understands the surprising isolation and independence attached to these lockers.…

I’ve always had personal issues ever since I was in seventh grade, but the height of it all really hit me in high school. I think some of it might have been due to the fact that I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. If I’m going to be honest, I was so depressed I didn’t think I would even make it to my graduation, so wondering about my future was just wishful thinking to me. My friend Morgan was the only person who knew what I was going through. One day she told me that she thinks I should start seeing someone to help me, but I just looked at her like she was crazy and walked away. It has never been easy for me to tell people how I’m feeling, so for her to suggest that really aggravated me. After I got home from school that day,…

A red and navy blue striped dress. The sound of medals and ropes together clinking through the door across the hall. A red graduation overlay sat flat on the comforter that had not been disturbed. The end of the school year seemed to go on forever until the last few days before her graduation. Those few weeks went sprinting by like a runner fifty feet from the finish line. Graduation didn’t seem like an event that would change what I think of her. A clink of red heels travel down the stairs and a car engine starting and zooming away into the distance. After the summer she would leave me to a distance that seemed threatening at the time. I glanced down at my attire and realized it wouldn’t be too much longer until I wore the same. I soon followed my sister’s path down the steps. I stepped into the late spring air filled with the scent of blooming flowers and new trees. I settled in the car and we were off.…
