In Today’s World People Depend Too Much On Computers and Technology
Are we too dependent on computers? The answer is yes! In today’s society, people use computers in business, education, and in the entertainment world. Almost everything we do and every aspect of our life is affected by modern technology with computers at the top of the list. People obsess over computers. The computers do everything for us so we don’t have to use our brains anymore. People are losing their jobs due to the computers moving into the workplace. They are making society dumber by the day. Society today is too dependent on computers because we use them for everything, we don’t have the social interaction that we once had, and technology makes us lazy.
First, people rely too much on computers because we use computers for just about everything. We use computers to look up information instead of using books. The medical industry uses computers. Software is used for performing surgery. Computers are used to store patient data. The banking industry relies heavily on computers to keep up with money. Supercomputers are used to analyze and predict weather. Teachers can give online exams and get instant results. We can even check our examination results online. We also can gamble online instead of going to a casino.

Second, people don’t have the social interaction that they once had because we can use Face Book or MySpace. We can even twitter how our day is going. We have all kinds of social networks on the internet that we have less face to face interaction with our peer groups. We can even date online now. Parents no longer have to communicate with their children in person. I believe since the onset of the internet, emails, texting, and computer games, we are losing the ability to communicate with each other on a

I agree with Clive Thompson as I also believe that students are losing the ability to socialize not by technology but by parents. Most parents tend not to let their children go outside and socialize with friends because of safety reasons. Clive Thompson writes “They are not allowed to hangout the way you and I did, so they’ve moved online”. Most parents are scared to let their children go out, explore and socialize since these days there are murders, rapists and other harmful reasons. Technology in fact, might help children to socialize better as it facilitate texting, calling, snap chat and face book where your friends might be able find you and talk and socialize with you. For example, with technology you can also meet up with me people…

I personally don’t always depend on technology. If I don’t know a meaning of a word or if I have a question that I can’t answer I would look up information in dictionary and books first. And if I still can’t find it then I will use the internet. Internet is also a very big factor in everyday activities today. According to a youtube video,”shift happens 2016”, 75 billion devices will be connected to the Internet by 2020. This number is 10 times our human population! It’s a fact that technology has made us dependent and lazy but, Whether we let technology take over human species is on our…

In 1981, IBM sold the first "PC", made from an 8088 processor with a clock speed of 4.77 MHz. It wasn’t the first computer ever made, but it was the first computer sold to ordinary people. We have moved on, we have made changes, and we have progressed to enhance computers. Computers have found their way into many aspects of our lives. In most cases computers make things easier for us. Computers have helped us so much, yet people seem to think we have come to be too dependent on them. Are computers really hurting our lifestyles? They have allowed us to learn, to communicate, and to organize making life just a little less stressful. Computers are great for the future of our world and will be greatly needed as we have many more things to discover in the near future and beyond. People may complain and argue that computers are just too much but they will see the truth when life needs more organization ,more communication and more education. Yes we could survive without computers, but the truth is… do we want to when we realize just what a computer can do for us. Computers are a central data base with thousands of resources instruments and tools that can help change the way we live. Yes we can use books and other resources to learn, but isn’t it nice to highlight the facts we need to know and take out the rest. The consensus that we are becoming too dependent on technology is one not so unbelievable. We all know for the most part that technology has integrated itself to just about everything that we do. For example, how many times do you check your phone, or go online to check your email or even play a video game. These are common examples of things we do daily without even realizing that these technologies have taken over our lives.…

Over reliance on technology has also distorted the social life of many people. Before the rise of technology, people would interact and socialize, but nowadays many people like connecting with their friends and relatives through social media, instead of face to face communication. This has negatively affected our relationship with our friends and families because we no longer cherish the good times we shared together with them. The over reliance on technology has also made us miss out on the real world, since we are more engaged in our own lives and we do not interact with others. This behavior of individualism brought about by reliance on technology affects how we relate with others and creates social problems since we cannot tolerate others.…

Computers are great things, and are very useful in everyday life, but they create a certain distraction which just overpowers our will to stay away from the computer. In our modern day world, computers are absolutely essential and all around us, at work, at schools, at malls etc. It is impossible to run away from these devices and we've become so dependent on it that we just can't do things on our own now. For example, say you were doing some homework and you couldn't figure out the answer, instead of trying to understand the problem or asking a peer for help, you go onto Google and find the answer. The attachment takes away from our independent thinking and will remain with us until we learn become less dependent on the computers.…

We tend to depend on technology a bit too much and are becoming too comfortable with it. Technology has caused people to become so reliant that, a poll by CNET,28 percent of people said they wouldn’t be able to live without high-speed internet. The younger generation has lost its curious experiences to explore the world. Today, children are behind a TV screen or video game. Many people may not even know how to use a traditional can opener, search through the Yellow pages, or look up information in libraries and encyclopedias. Though technology has allowed us to improve traditional tasks, it has also interfered with our realization of the dependency we have.…
