Introduction For this project we had to experiment to see the effects of blue light on a plants growth. We had to research on light and its effects on photosynthesis. This helped me with my experiment because I had knowledge for what was going on with the plants and light. For this project I and one of my classmates had to conduct a experiment to see the effects of blue light versus white light. For this project we had to grow lentil beans under white and blue light and water and measure them daily. My experimental question was what is the effect of blue light on the height of lentil beans?
Background
Energy is important to my topic because we are testing the effects of light energy on a plants development. Energy is the ability to do work. Some types of energy are light, thermal, sound, nuclear, electric, chemical, and mechanical energy. Energy is transferred from one place to another with waves. All waves have amplitude, wavelength, and frequency. The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of wavelengths or frequencies over which electromagnetic radiation extends. In the electromagnetic spectrum the visible light falls in the middle. Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic waves we can see. We see the waves as all the colors of the rainbow. Each color has a different wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength and violet has the shortest wavelength. When all the waves are seen together, they make white light. The difference between the colors we see is wave length.
Light is important to all organisms on this this planet because it keeps the food chain going. For example without light plants can’t develop which means the omnivores and herbivores can’t strive witch also means the carnivores won’t have anything to eat. Thus saying all the energy comes from the plants which receive energy from light. So without light there is no chance for life on earth. The roles of produces are to produce energy for consumers.

Photosynthesis is a chemical process that converts the sunlight into a chemical energy that plants store for later. Without photosynthesis, the world as we know it would not exist. All the plants would die and so would a major food and oxygen source. During Photosynthesis water is sucked up through the roots up the stem and to the leaves. The leaves take in carbon dioxide and begin to absorb sunlight. these things combine to make glucose and oxygen. The plant then uses the glucose and oxygen is expelled through the stomata of the plant as a waste product. In The leaves there are a very special pigment called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is responsible for the absorption of sunlight. Richard Martin Willstätter is the man responsible for studying these structures.…

Finally, photosynthesis is a natural process necessary for the plants, while also necessary for humans. This process is something that occurs every day and every night. It repeats itself endlessly until the tree or plant dies. The trees and plants are important because the oxygen that we humans have been breathing since our birth was produced by them each day. Due to this process, life is able to be sustained on planet…

Photosynthesis is a well perceived performance in which plants and other defined organisms use the energy of photons to convert carbon dioxide and water into a simple monosaccharide sugar known as glucose. Photosynthesis provides the fundamental energy source for essentially all living organisms. The most substantial and valuable byproduct of photosynthesis is oxygen, one of the most abundant elements living organisms depend on.…

Plants grow when put under a sunlight. If a plants is placed under a red light, a blue light, a green light, and sunlight then which will grow the most? The hypothesis was if a plant is placed under a blue, red, green and sunlight, then the plant under the green light will grow the tallest of all plant. The experiment's independent variable was the type of light the plant is placed under. The dependent variable was the growth of plants (in cm). Some variables that were ceped the same was the amount of water (only at the beginning was the plants given ¼ cup water), the amount of sunlight (5:30 pm-6:30 am), and the amount of seeds (4). The experimental group was the plants placed under the red, blue, and green light. In the experiment the plants weren’t given enough water…

It is a well-known fact that plants need light for nourishment, yet many people are ignorant of the reasons behind this. The biological process by which green plants utilize carbon dioxide, water and sunlight to form their own food is called photosynthesis (unknown). Past research has demonstrated that red and blue rays maximize this process (Rothenburger, 1993). The purpose of this experiment was to examine the effect of several different light sources on plant growth. The Five lights sources studied were incandescent, black, fluorescent, colored, and natural light.…

Visible light is electromagnetic energy emitted at wavelengths our eyes can see. Electromagnetic energy emitted at wavelengths we cannot see may take the form of infrared radiation, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays, gamma rays, and radio waves. Gamma rays have wavelengths much shorter than visible light. Radio waves are the opposite. Their frequencies are far longer than the longest waves our eyes can see.…
