Pablo Picasso

Weird, talented, and a past artist, if I was asked about Pablo Picasso, I would think these words. Pablo Picasso was born on October 25th, 1881, in Málaga, Spain. Picasso’s birth name was Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito Ruiz y Picasso, his name honored Saints and Ruiz y Picasso was added to honor his parents. His parents were Don José Ruiz y Blasco and María Picasso y López. Some important contributions and accomplishments that Pablo Picasso made were the contribution of the art of cubism and his artistic legacy. When Pablo Picasso was an artist, he went through quite a few phases. There was the blue phase, the rose phase, African-influenced Period, cubism, Classicism, and surrealism. Of all these phases, cubism was the most important because it was not around until Picasso and Georges Braque developed this type of art in 1909. The art was made by cutting paper (wallpaper or portions of newspaper pages) into designs; this was the first use of the collage technique in fine art. After Picasso died, he still had some of his paintings and other artists painting in his possession. These paintings were put in a special museum in France in order to honor him. Pablo Picasso holds a place in history because he was a fantastic artist. Many people study his art today to become better artists. If there was no Picasso, then there would be no cubism and that would change art, as we know it. Some interesting facts about Pablo Picasso: At age 8, he completed his first oil painting. Also, he cut off his ear and gave it to a prostitute that he was in love with. Lastly, some of the most expensive paintings ever sold were by Pablo Picasso. In conclusion, Pablo Picasso was a strange and magnificent artist. Sadly, he died on April 8, 1973.

Pablo Ruiz y Picasso, known as Pablo Picasso, Born 25 October 1881 in Malaga Spain and died 8 April 1973, aged 91 in Mougins, France was one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. Picasso is known for bringing the cubist movement into the world of art. Cubism was a movement in the 20th century in which the perspective was changed from a single viewpoint and the natural forms of things were turned abstract; simple geometric structures with vibrant colors were placed together to create a picture. When Picasso was 14, he and his family moved to Barcelona, Spain where he applies to the School of Fine arts and was accepted but began skipping class so that he could roam the streets of Barcelona, sketching the city scenes he observed. He moved all across the country at a young age but at the end of the 20th century he moved to France to open his own studio. Along with cubism Picasso also went through other period called the blue period when he was depressed and the rose period when he fell in love. One of Picasso’s most famous pieces of work is the weeping woman; this piece of work was painted in the year 1937 on an oil canvas. This is an example of cubist artwork. The colors in this portrait are very vibrant and all contrast with each other; the colors are also very bold and blocked in. Picasso’s use of cubism in this portrait makes this piece of work almost uncomfortable to look at as the mood in the picture is thought provoking. This portrait is somewhat confusing because you are unsure what to think when you look at it. The focal point of this portrait is the…
