Course Description: OREN 101/UNIV 102: Foundation of Collegiate Learning represents the 2nd part of a 2-semester course designed to assist incoming freshmen and transfer students in their transition to the college environment. This part of the course will focus on providing students with additional knowledge and practice in communication/writing skills through assigned activities designed to stimulate critical thinking and generate solutions to specific problem sets. Students will also be provided with information on academic success strategies; leadership, ethical values and their rights and responsibilities as scholars in the academy.

Required Text Book and Supplemental Course Materials:
• Tuskegee University UNIV 101 & 102: Foundations of College Success (Elaine M. Bromfield, PhD, Editor), Tapestry Press, Ltd., Littleton, MA. (2012).
• Additional resource materials will be posted on Blackboard or recommended by class Instructors.
• Students should arrive at each class session with the Textbook, a pen and notebook to record class notes.

All students are REQUIRED to purchase the Textbook. Photocopying pages is PROHIBITED and is considered a fraudulent action with serious consequences.

All students are REQUIRED to:
1. Send emails to their Instructors using their MY TU account ONLY.
2. Setup their Starfish Profile and respond as requested when “Flagged” by a Professor. Students failing to respond as requested by Starfish alert risk not being able to pre-register for SU13 and/or FA13.

Course Objectives:

1. To continually provide students with the opportunity to build relationships with Tuskegee University faculty/staff for additional guidance and mentoring.

2. To continually provide students with required tools/resources; needed skills and strategies for maintain success within the academy.

3. To provide students with additional knowledge and practice in communication/writing skills through assigned activities designed to stimulate
