Organizational Transformation in Educational Institutions in a Global Society

PREPARATION

1. Why is it relevant to be acquainted with environmental trends in effecting educational transformation?

It is very relevant for advocates of educational transformation to not only be acquainted with, but be fully aware of the current trends in the environment today. These trends are: economic trends, market trends, political trends, social trends, technological trends and ecological trends. Educational institutions must consider these trends in planning for their future actions to ensure success and continuity of their existence or operation. By using these trends as inputs in the planning process, educational transformation advocates can draw out concrete action plans adaptable to the trends or a counter measure to whatever ill effects these trends may bring in the education sector. To be able to effect transformation of our education into a better state, in-depth understanding of the external environmental trends and their implications to the growth and development of the institution should be the primordial concern of the stakeholders of educational transformation.

2. Now more than ever in the history of the world, why is there a need to focus on ecological trends as a critical issue in educational transformation? Please surf the internet on the latest statistics about our ecological problems, local, national and global in scope.

Now more than ever, is the time for educational planners to focus their attention on ecological trends which is becoming the most critical issue our society is facing today. The challenge of re-educating the society of the ill effects of man’s action of exploiting and polluting his environment and ecology, and for him to do something good to put an end to the problem of ecological degradation lies in the hands of educators.
