Organisational Culture at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
Tata Consultancy Services is an IT services, consulting and business solutions organization that delivers real results to global businesses, ensuring a level of certainty that no other firm can match. TCS has over 300,000 of the world’s best-trained IT consultants in 46 countries.
TCS was established in 1968 as a division of Tata Sons Limited. TCS Ltd. got incorporated as a separate entity on January 19, 1995. The company operates in America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. The company is headquartered in Mumbai, India.
As an organization needs the right talent to drive its business objectives, people need the right organisational environment and culture to grow and achieve their career goals. With such a stable lineage and huge size, the cultural model being followed at the heart of TCS is known as Mission Culture model.
The company has a vision:
1) To help customers achieve their business objectives by providing innovative, best in-class consulting, IT solutions and services.
2) To make it a joy for all stakeholders to work with it.
This vision is being shared as well as practised by each and every employee right from its senior management to its executive employees.
Some of the critical elements that define the work culture are global exposure, cross-domain experience, and work-life balance. Each of these elements goes much deeper than what it ostensibly conveys. Below mentioned are a few key distinct features which speak itself about the culture at TCS:
Diverse Group: People from diverse backgrounds and geographies have come together in pursuit of a common vision.
Open door policy: The corporate culture is open and inclusive; irrespective of one’s experience, one will immediately be welcomed into the team, and would always have a significant role to play.
