For your one-on-one family therapy appointments, I think that is a great idea to improve the communication between Kevin and his parents. In the case study, the parents did not disclose their living arrangements. Maybe at home, Kevin is praised so much for his intelligence that he thinks he can do whatever he wants at school. During these weekly visit, you can discuss with them different kinds of parenting styles. Since he is an intelligent child, do some research with the parents about any gifted afterschool programs for Kevin. This can assist Kevin in being academically challenged.
