Neoliberalismo Y Sociedad Civil, Desafíos Para Los Movimientos Sociales

“A society which makes provision for participation in its good of all its members on equal terms and which secures flexible readjustment of its institutions through interaction of the different forms of associated life is in so far democratic. Such a society must have a type of education which gives individuals a personal interest in social relationships and control, and the habits of mind which secure social changes without introducing disorder”.…

'Globalization ' is a slogan of key ideas for business theory and practice. It is often confusing; sometime used as a way of describing the spread and connectedness of production, communication and technologies across the world; the overlapping of economic and cultural activity; rather is also used to the efforts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and others to create a global free market for goods and services; politically and potentially, damaging for a lot of poorer nations - is really a means to exploit the larger process; in the sense of connectivity in economic and cultural life across the world, has been growing for centuries. However, many believe the current situation is of a fundamentally different order to what has gone before. The speed of communication and exchange, the complexity and size of the networks involved, and the sheer volume of trade, interaction and risk give what we now label as 'globalization ' a peculiar force.( 1) With increased economic interconnection, some argue, multinational corporations. which rose the globalization of the 'brands ' like Coca Cola, Nike and Sony. Anthony Giddens (1990: 64) has described globalization as 'the intensification of worldwide social relations which link distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice versa '. This involves a change in the way we understand geography and experience localness. As well as offering opportunity it brings with considerable risks linked, for example, to technological change. . Globalization, thus, has powerful economic, political, cultural and social dimensions.…

Globalisation is the growing relations of international markets and it involves the economic activity in the production of goods and services among countries. It involves aspects such as growth and productivity, employment and skills wages and unequal distribution in wages both internationally as within a country. Hence, the belief that globalisation leads to growth is present all over both the works of Friedman and Norberg, but can be illustrated by a quote from Friedman: 'Economic development in terms of globalisation happened when we connected New York, New Mexico and California. It happened when we connected Western Europe, America and Japan. And it will happen when we connect India and China with America, Europe and Japan ' (Friedman, 2007, p. 277). .Simultaneously, globalisation is used by some scholars to refer to the efforts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and others in order to create a global free market for goods, capital, labour and services. This political project, whilst being significant and potentially damaging for a lot of poorer nations is really a means of profit rendering for multinational companies (IMF, 2000). On that same line Wallerstein (2000, p. 15) argues that globalisation works in such a way that the countries of the core generally tend to gain advantages on the expense of nations in the periphery. In other words globalisation has not only created a more competitive market, but it has also contributed to higher level of impoverishment, inequalities in distribution of incomes and the weakening of institutions and social support systems. For example, the pace of economic progress has been uneven in time and the conversion of the old systems as one independent nation has left many people behind due to variations in income per head between countries and regions. (Steeten, 2001, p. 25). Hence, to avoid the negative effects of globalisation certain factors are to be taken…

During the past 20 years, the world economy has become increasingly connected and integrated, We could find that our times has already entered globalisation era, as the degree of the globalisation is strengthened, the countries all over the world, while sharing their benefits, will unavoidably take risks altogether, which has been one of the most hotly-debated topics in international economics. Having a look to Robertson’s definition of globalization: “Globalization as a concept refers both to the compression of the world and the intensification of consciousness of the world as a whole...both concrete global interdependence and consciousness of the global whole.” (Robertson 1992:8, cited by Waters, 1995:6), we find that globalization makes the whole world looks like a economic unity. But it still has different influence on different historical stages of economic development, which mainly be divided into developed economy and developing economy.…

The problem with globalisation is that it is not so much an ‘it’ as a ‘them’: it is not a single process but a complex processes, sometimes overlapping and interlocking but also, at times, contradictory and oppositional. It is therefore difficult to reduce globalisation to a single theme. Nevertheless, the various development and manifestations that are associated with globalisation, or indeed globality, can be traced back to the underlying phenomenon of interconnectedness. Globalisation, regardless of its forms or impact, forges connections between previously unconnected people, communities, institutions and societies. While some see globalisation as the critical driving force behind the social, political and economic changes which are currently reshaping today’s society, they still believe that the nation-state will play a significant role. It is important to try not to look at this globalisation debate as being black or white. We cannot think of the world as being entirely globalized or internationalized but rather contain aspects of both under different…

Globalization is a powerful real aspect of the new world system, and it represents one of the most influential forces in determining the future course of the planet. O tema deste ensaio é o mal-estar no trabalho.
